New dishwasher recommendations

Bosch, the mid and high end ones with the stainless steel tub. They also have a third rack in the top that works great for spatulas, long handled things, small bowls, and even my Glocks. Costs about $800 for a white one, but it cleans anything and is so quiet you really cannot tell if it's running. My appliance guy would agree with @Jerzsubbie, it's what you buy when you want the best.

Do they have factory outlet stores?
I'm not aware of any manufacturer that currently sell D2C (direct to consumer). The industry is kind of behind the curve in that respect.

Your best bet nationally, is Sears Outlet Stores, but with Sears closing stores by the month those may be tough to come by.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I agree with all of the above posters about the Bosch. That top third rack for silverware is awesome! And the unit runs silently. Also gets the dishes clean. Standard cycle is 2hrs, 20 min; quick wash is about 1 hour. We got ours about 3 yrs ago during a kitchen remodel after the wife researched the hell out of dishwashers.

Installed a new Bosch yesterday, was on sale and in stock at Lowe's.
I was trying to figure out why they put a red LED that shines on the floor, it's because you can't hardly hear it run.

I am watching this thread... my job today is to find a replacement for our LG dishwasher, which has been nothing but trouble for the past few years. I was thinking Maytag, Samsung, or Bosch, but still undecided.

We've had a Bosch for years with zero issues. My BIL has had is even longer. We have a Samsung up in the mountains and it seems ok, but the buttons have to be pressed perfectly. Kinda a PIA.

I can make you a really good deal on a used Maytag, special edition..3 in 1, dishwasher, smoker and oven.

So I took some other pictures of what the old dishwasher did to the dishes that were inside.
Those are Corelle dishes where it cracked the glazing along the edges.20171230_142415.jpg

You can see a circle in the bottom of the Pyrex dish where it deformed it, its a raised bubble you can feel on the bottom.

I feel pretty confident that the only thing that stopped it from actually catching fire was it was a solid stainless steel tub.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have a height problem- I less than 34" clearance, so a lot of the main ones by Bosch, Whirpool, etc. are a tight fit. I've been looking for one in the 33" height range, but haven't found a good one yet. Any suggestions? I'd like to keep it less than $600 (yes, there is a model of Bosch for about $720 that is shorter, but that's a little more than I want to spend). Thanks!

hot enough to deform pyrex is really hot.

The Bosch I got has a minimum height of 33 7/8".... however I had to raise it up about a inch on the feet to get close enough to secure it to the bottom of the countertop.

34" is standard cabinet height. You may want to try finding a local appliance dealer (not big box store) or Ferguson showroom and see if they can point you in the right direction. I'd be willing to bet there are only a handful of current models that are either short enough while still being standard width OR have enough adjustability in the feet to become an inch shorter.

Yup, we have A Bosch factory in New Bern and Frigidaire factory in Kinston. 2 NC built choices at different price points.

The Electrolux / Frigidaire factory in Kinston also makes SOME (not all, but some) of the Kitchenaid dishwashers. I had one that was built there (sold the house) and it was great and quiet. They white label several brands. I know these things because I had to do some work for their Test/Development group many years ago. Great folks and hard at work in that huge building. Nothing but dishwashers are made there and they turn out bunches every shift.

As I mentioned, ours crapped out and we bought another one. It wasn't in stock at the store so taking it home and self installing it that day wasn't an option. Instead I'm having it delivered, installed, and the old one taken away for an additional $125.

What's interesting is that the store doesn't actually sell the delivery and installation on the invoice, but instead just arranges it and you pay the installer directly. They freely admitted that the reason they don't is because if it is an invoiced item it becomes subject to the new "services are subject to sales tax law" (thanks GOP'pers - lower taxes my backside) and they don't agree with it, so they work around it.

Old thread, but I just installed a 44dB model I got from a liquidation sale(super cheap and no sales tax...SO MUCH WINNING) and I have to say hell yes on the need for the LED. I went with the plug versus junction box as I read a few issues in the past.
