Griffin just announced their new Explorr Gen 2 cans in .224 and .30 cal. Both are available with taper mount interface or universal 1.375x24 threads.

.224
5.8” x 1.5”
10.8oz univ, 9oz taper

.300
6.3” x 1.5”
11.8oz univ, 10oz taper

I’m curious to see some hands-on comparisons to the YHM Turbo and Resonator. Spec-wise, the Explorr 300 is significantly lighter than the Res R2 while only being 0.65” shorter.

Turbo T2 (direct thread)
5.6” x 1.56”
12.8oz

Resonator R2 (direct thread)
6.95” x 1.56”
16.1oz

Edit: it looks like the GA cans will be significantly more expensive than YHM’s. MSRP is $795-969 depending on caliber and taper/universal threaded. That puts street price of the Griffin universal .30 cal about 50% higher than an R2, assuming 10% off Griffin’s msrp which is inline with what I’m seeing at Capital Armory on other Griffin cans.

On the plus side, the universal threaded models include a Plan A and muzzle device so while it doesn’t really save any money for someone like me who runs Plan A’s on all of my rifle cans, it doesn’t save me from having to sell the YHM QD setup in order to recoup the cost.
