New kel tec 9mm

Agreed, i think it's pretty ugly. Claims to be the lightest and thinnest on the market though and i know there are people always willing to try the latest wonder 9. I've personally never shot a keltec other than the p3at and it was meh.

I had a PF-9 for a time, never failed but it sure was no fun to shoot. Like the P3at, Keltec had a great idea, but someone else came along shortly thereafter and polished it into something you’re more likely to keep/carry.

Call me old fashioned, but thinnest and lightest doesn't mean best. There's a reason I shoot Glock 19s instead of whatever shield arms magazined monstrosities are out now. I want guns I can shoot 600 rounds at a time without being in pain. 👴

I carry a 19 as well and couldn't agree more.

I hope the magazines drop out easily vs my CP-33.

KT is an innovator, and specializes in compact, extremely lightweight firearms. Both of those attributes work against reliability and so does the fact that many of their designs are completely new and one of a kind. Given those 3 things it's amazing the initial releases of their products have gone as well as they have.

People who will be upset if their new bangstick isn't dead nuts reliable straight out of the box should not be early adopters and that's what you are when you buy a completely new design on its first release, especially one on the cutting edge of size and weight. That's where a lot of the KT hate comes from. Just keep to your conventional designs until the bugs get worked out, like they always do.

Boomer. 😁

Yes it's fugly. Doesn't pass the wince test. I'll not own a gun that makes me wince every time I see it. What's up with that grip safety? Wonder why they thought that was necessary.

Does anyone care? At all? Like even in the slightest?

Keltec is good for sporadic production borderline-novelty guns. No one is begging them to make an EDC these days.

Edit: not directed at OP.
Their G2 series has been a great EDC for tons of folks. PF-9 as well. Lots of cops carried P32s and P3ATs in ankle holsters.

I’m a sample size of 1, but I had a PF-9, junk. It broke internally at 200rd on the first range trip. Not to mention it sucked to shoot.

But I’ll agree with you on the P3AT and that’s why I said “no one is begging them to make an EDC these days”. Years ago before all of the micro compacts came on the scene, before LCP’s, Keltec was one of the few players for a BUG/pocket-semi that didn’t break the bank.

I carried and shot a PF-9 for 3 years. A 9mm that light and thin is going to be snappy.

That's what killed it for me. I'm used to keltec funkiness and was looking forward to trying one but with the usual keltec premium over MSRP it's going to be G19 money for a toy.... OK maybe.. but not with that dumb ass grip safety on there.

Release a 'pro' version without it then we'll talk.

Is it really because you're a wimp?? Or is it because there are literally billions of rounds out of G19s with Glock mags proving they're about as reliable as you can get, vs. the shield arms things with thousands of rounds and no track record beyond forum posts of "works for me!"?

Disclaimer: I own a PF9 and carry a P3AT often. Its always struck me that Ruger got accolades for the LCP by copying Keltec's P3xx

Fact: Keltec makes ugly firearms.

That said, mine have always done well by me but I won't own a grip safety model. I wonder if they've put that there in order to allow for a lighter trigger pull?

The PF9 is still the lightest, most narrow 9mm I've tried. And yes, it's uncomfortable to shoot (see "lightest , most narrow") .

Definitely the former. 😁

I shot a member's Hellcat with some +P and hated it after one magazine. Gimme that double stack thicc backstrap.

I felt the same way about my briefly owned Hellcat. Now the Hellcat Pro, that's a different story altogether. It's a MUCH better shooter than it's little brother.

I have a PF9 that I like and carry around the house. It is light enough to pajama pocket carry without making you sag too much. lol This new gun is 14 oz? That's about the same weight, though it looks a little bigger.
