Smith released a 15rd mag for the Shield Plus and new Equalizer. So now there are 10, 13, and 15rd mags.

I’m glad to see this because the way these mags are made you can’t put an extension on them. The lips at the bottom of the mag fold inward unlike M&P double stack and Shield non-plus mags.

They probably did that on purpose so you'd buy a 15 rounder from them.

I'm hoping they make a shield plus xl or whatever a 365xl competitor would be called.
I’m fine with that, I prefer OEM pistol mags.

They already have an “XL”. I have both the 3.1” and 4” Shield Plus. Next would be a “Macro” but I don’t really care for a larger permanent grip, the 15rd mag is perfect for me because then I have no reason to carry my 4” compact which also has a 15rd capacity, or 17rd with Floyd’s +2 bases which are shorter than an OEM 17rd mag.

I thought they were all ten round pinky hanging off grips and just gave you a longer mag for your pinky to grip onto? Id like a longer grip.

If the XL grip is longer than the standard then yes, you’re correct. I’m not a Sig guy and haven’t looked too closely at them. I thought the standard and XL only varies in barrel length.

All Shield Plus have the same grip length to accept 10rd flush mags, 13rd ext, and now the 15rd extra ext.

Yeah the xl is a longer grip, I had issues with a gen 1 subcompact reloading because of the meaty fat part of my palm getting in the way of the magwell. I find longer grips are easier to reload than shorter ones. Probably a desk jockey issue related to fat guys.

Do you see any recoil difference between the barrel lengths?

Gotcha, makes sense.
I have small hands (size medium mechanix glove) so no I haven’t had any issues. But also, we’ve met, neither of us are fat, though I can definitely use some exercise.

I think the longer barrel shoots nicer, less muzzle flip, easier to control with the 30% extra length in barrel plus the added weight and different balance point of the longer slide.

Got my mags in today. Definitely will be nice to have them as my spare mags when I CC but not sure you can CC with them as the primary mag

Now to see if they are really 15 round mags vs the 13s that are really 12s lol

Yeah, I don’t think it would make sense to carry with the 15. It’s purpose is strictly as a spare or range mag IMO.

Now, I just need to find a decent 1.5 stack mag carrier. I have single and double stack, but neither hold Plus mags well at all.

Anyone have a good kydex 1.5 stack belt mag pouch?

I got Kytex Shooting Gear carriers for my Shield Plus mags and they work well
