First of all, don't razz me for my lack of skill - but to me, the difference with the flat trigger was impressive. I had a serious issue with finger placement and all my shots would be down to the right (Im lefty). Replaced the trigger with the flat one and I see the difference. I still have the same issue - but it doesn't seem to be as pronounced with the flat trigger. Without the flat trigger - I was consistently in the 3-4 ring. And yes, the targets were 3, 5, 7 yards out.IMG_3325.JPG

You need to dry fire and watch the front site through the pull. You already guessed this is trigger finger and you are probably right. Too much finger on the trigger. With long trigger pulls you need strength to pull through and make it smooth. If your finger strength is weak you will need more finger on the trigger to pull it. This will also cause that sympathetic grip response to be more pronounced. Do you have any really stiff DA guns? If not use the p365. With a unloaded gun. Grip the gun and pull the trigger half way and hold it. Just keep holding it there. Hold it and watch tv, hold it and watch your wife wash dishes. Just keep it held there as long as you can and then rest, rinse and repeat about 10-15 times a day. Your finger should hurt if you are doing it right. This is a strength training exercise and should be done in ADDITION to dry fire practice. You can buy gadgets to increase hand strength, but guns work fine and it so happens you already own it.

After a week or three so of doing this you will notice your finger doesn't have as much issue at all pulling smoothly back. Keep doing it and watch your front site all the way through your trigger pull. Will it to not move. Do it slow and do it fast. Pay attention to the front site. You do this for a month and ill bet you can clean up those shots and start hitting the X ring eazy breezy.

People with 3 pound trigger pulls are wusses who have weak fingers. Us DA/SA guys have to have grip strength like a Russian power lifter. :)

Thanks for the input. I’ll give it a try. I also bought a Targetize laser trainer which should help with the front sight focus. Interesting in that I usually shoot P220 and don’t have the same problem. Again, thanks for the help.

I encourage all who come through here, when you are shooting to achieve what you are doing [POAvsPOI] to LET the gun go bang, don't MAKE the gun go bang. When you get groups like you are getting shooting lefty [assuming the gun actually Does shoot over it's sights] it's an indicator of PIP. Post Ignition Push. You are Making it go bang.....

Yes...!!!!!!!!

Your trigger work is disturbing the sights.
The sights need to be on the target when the slide returns into battery. It takes practice and good recoil management to make this happen, but it can be done. This technique is called " Calling the shot"..

Keep up the practice and hit the range as often as you can!

"See sight lift.... AND RETURN..."

You don't need to shoot bullets to correct this issue, dry firing and exercise will do wonders. Best part is it is free. I see people with weak fingers and hands have the most issue with long trigger pulls. The gun moves all over the place. You have to have the strength to pull the trigger without straining your hand and moving the gun. If you cannot do that you will never be able to move beyond it to the next problem. The goal is to pull the trigger without disturbing the sites. This is key. But you have to know the reasons WHY you are disturbing the sites in order to correct them. You are not using a 1911 or Glock with a 3lb trigger. Your finger and hand strength are less important for a single shot with a light trigger pull right? It's much easier. The P365 has a kind of long mushy pull. It breaks clean, but it takes some getting used to.

I am contemplating an Apex flat trigger on my EDC P320. This thread neither confirmed nor denied these musings ;)
