image.jpeg image.jpeg Am I the only one intrigued by these new "toys"? As much as I'd love an SBS I can't justify the $200 stamp when I don't shoot shotguns that much. However a $450 msrp stubby like this is quite appealing. I doubt my hand will like it very much but the cool factor of these things is quite high!

I saw a Hickock45 video on the Mossberg Shockwave and Buds already has it listed at $390. The Mossy is 5+1, based on the 590, and has the little strap screwed on to the forend.

The Rem Tac 14 4+1 and comes with a Magpul forend. I imagine you could put a +1 extension on it but regardless these would make one heck of a bedside gun with 5-6rds of 12g in a small package.

I'd like to fire one with low recoil 00 buck. I think the one with the magpul foreend looks awesome, but it's not a very practical gun. Are we talking nightstand gun, truck gun, anything other than just a fun toy?

@Jerzsubbie you're close to me...I have one, but have a $5 AOW stamp for mine.
If you ever want to shoot it before buying one, let me know.

"Whippet" gun.

I don't see how that could hold 5 rounds though.

The Mossberg is actually a 5+1

With 2 3/4" shells that is 13 3/4" + spring and follower length. How long is the barrel?

Edit; I see it has a 14" barrel but the tube doesn't extend to the end. It either has a TARDIS tube or they're not using standard shells.

See the title of the thread? :D

14"

For comparison, here are my two SBSs and the AOW:

14" 12ga 870 with a +1 ext is 5+1
12.5" 20ga 870 is 4+1
14" 12ga 590a1 is 5+1

And to be accurate, the title of this thread should be "Non-NFA Firearms"...as these are not shotguns. ;)

Well what forum section does it belong in then? Not a pistol, not a long gun, not a shotgun, not NFA. I think we need a new "firearms" section. :D
I appreciate the offer btw, and very well may take you up on it but not for a little while.

Yeah, I didn't even mention the section, just the title. Even though it's not a long gun by definition, moving it from the shotgun subsection to the main Long Guns section is probably the most logical. I can't remember my 4473, but it should've been an "other" (like an AR received) because it fits this part of the description:

"Other" refers to frames, receivers and other firearms that are neither handguns nor long guns (rifles or shotguns), such as firearms having a pistol grip that expel a shotgun shell, or National Firearms Act (NFA) firearms, including silencers.

Shooting mine once will probably save you $400 (or whatever the going rate it). ;)

Might be able to justify a "Firearms" section soon now that both Mossberg and Remington are in the game. Other manufacturers are sure to follow.

Here's mine:

I installed a shortened Hogue forend and added Talon Grip material to the grip. After firing a couple hundred rounds, I'm getting pretty good at getting hits out to 10+ yards shooting from the hip. The grip really helps to mitigate felt recoil. Much better than a vertical pistol grip. Even buckshot and slugs do not hurt. The gun is a hoot to shoot!
