Umm, not what you are thinking. A parting shot by deBlasio and an olive branch to the progressives up there.

There were five overdoses at the East Harlem site that saw 85 users inject drugs laced with fentanyl including heroin on Tuesday.

The idiot has four weeks left and he will do everything to take down NYC before he leaves office. No doubt he will run for Governor.

Great news. Another good reason for me to moved to NYC. đŸ€Ș

I'm not sure on this one.. on one hand it shouldn't be illegal to ruin your life and body in any way you see fit. On the other hand, .gov should not be helping you do that... hmmm

Problem is then we are all responsible for paying for their destructive habits. Whether it’s rehab, medical care or the crime they perpetrate to get their next fix.

Most regular street addicts won't go to these "government-provided safety-spots" for the same reason they prefer to avoid other types of "shelters": they're magnets for crazy people, violent people, and the biggie: thieves. Just ask any street addict.

Put pallets of high quality dope on the street corners with a “help yourself” sign, the problem will work itself out in time, yeah it sounds cruel but crime rates would drop and the addicts will have all the dope they want, eventually they will either kill themselves or finally get help, drug treatment is completely pointless unless the addict seriously wants to break their addiction.

My mom was a drug counselor for 25-30 years and she handled thousands of cases in the Fayetteville area through the 80s-90s, the vast majority of people went through her program via the criminal justice system and she sent many people back to prison.

Sounds like I'm about to start selling dope. 100% profit

I have addictive wiring & thank God opiates make me feel like crap.
My son has a horrid abscess in his jaw they wouldn’t fix until his white blood count was down (infection).
They had him on oxycodone for a month and he was addicted. He only took the meds per prescription. Couldn’t focus, his skin was crawling, lost his job, their family had to move on with us for over a year. Add to that the internal speak of, “I’m a loser, not providing for my family, and have to have mommy s& daddy provide for us“ on his back. Thank God again; a couple years later he’s on his feet in his own home. Has a sales job where his managers love him with a $100K base.

For the folks that want to not be enslaved, they NEED to offer these folks psych help, including psychedelic sessions where applicable.

Absolutely...the government (and therefore is) should not be on the hook for people who have ruined their lives like this.

They want to burn they're brains out on various drugs and whatnot, fine. But they should also hold ultimate responsibility for their actions in the matter, as well.

With great stupidity comes great consequences.

Rehab centers staffed by .gov employees pretty much don't work at all anyway. They need to be largely staffed by former addicts.

Rehab centers that have a significant number of court-mandated attendees (required to be there as part of a "sentencing", and aren't really in a mindset where they "want to get better") don't work very well either. Too much negativity in the atmosphere.
