New to me 3" S&W 66-2

Great find! The 3" 66's are my absolute favorite revolvers - better than my Pythons. I have a few - and always looking for more.

Nice guns, I've owned four: 66-2x2, 66-3, and 66-4. My favorites were the -2. I just sold the last one of those NIB (the one pictured below) in December to a member of this forum. But I still prefer the 2.5", even tho general consensus is the 3" is cooler. That old wives tail about easier extraction with the 3" is irrelevant if you know how to do it correctly.

I love the 66's. I must, I have 4 of them. I always preferred the look to the 686. My 6" version was the first new firearm I ever bought while back in college and has even been used as my primary deer piece once. It still looks and shoots great and will probably be the last gun to leave my hand!

I'm just the opposite. I think the K-frames are the best-looking, and best-feeling revolvers. The 19/66 being tops, and the 3" 66 is the most perfect revolver ever made (for me). 3" model 13/65's are a close second. I have several L-frames, but they 'feel' a bit clunky, even though the dimensions are only marginally larger.

Here's most of my 66's.
