I took a chance about a month ago and traded my Ruger Precision Rifle got a Remington 700 LA custom in .300 Winchester Magnum.
First of all my reasoning for the trade was that the Ruger didnt fit me, I just couldnt get used to a bolt action AR.
As for its replacement, as I mentioned it a Remington 700 long action, twenty six inch heavy barrel, cerakoted FDE, with a customized factory trigger with a consistent break of eight (8) ounces.
I've installed a Ferrell G-Force 20 MOA base and I sprung for a Sig Sauer Tango 6 34mm tubed 5-30X56 scope.
At this point my biggest problem has been rings. I bought Sig Alpha 34mm rings, I guess due to no prior knowledge of the 34mm scope world, though they are a nice set of rings, I got the movement to the rear that I need to set my proper eye relief, so the search continues for a more useful set of rings to mount the scope in.
At this point I'm really just getting myself and the rifle ready, worse comes to worst, I'm going to be changing a few things that may make the rifle user friendly to me, namely a length of pull adjustable stock.
On the same note, I have had quite an education as to the real cost of ammo since I got this rifle....... .300 Win Mag is some pricey stuff......

Pics to follow......

@USMC6094 need pics..... Lol very cool! Would love to have a 300wm but just can't afford the ammo. :)

True, true, on the price of ammo, one brand in particular was expensive enough to make me question my morals when I popped for a box..........Sig Match topped with 190 Grain SMKs was the most I have EVER paid for a twenty round box of ammo, EVER in my whole life....

Buy a press and start loading. One of our hunt club members just bought a 700 LR in 300 WM. He showed up with 3 boxes of store bought ammo last weekend. I guess that hurt a little but he has some fire formed brass now. He has bought a press too! I have a 300 Bee and I can buy factory ammo for around $40 a box. Most of that is the cost of the brass. I assume 300 WM is about the same for standard factory ammo? Check out the prices on 30-378 ammo sometime. Ouch!! Welcome to the "Big Bang Club". :D

I think the ammo price is a bit of an aboration, I got two boxes of Sig Match in Kinston for the price of the single box more locally

Seekins low 34mm rings are far beyond my expectations of fit and quality.......
Pics this weekend......

I have a set of Seekins rings, I haven't ever heard anything bad about Seekins.

300winmag?

I'd like to get down that way & shoot a few of yours.

Plan a little impromptu get together and Miss Cindy's after. When it's a little cooler maybe.
