NFA pic thread

Changed some things on my Benelli M2. I chopped the barrel, installed a bead sight, and removed the rear rifle sight from the barrel. Also swapped out the stock set with a wood one. I'm going to MolyResin coat the metal black when I have a big enough batch of stuff to cook.

I got my Benelli E-Stamp back today. I've always wanted one of these. Everygunpart.com parts kit on an M2 receiver.

It's the one on the bottom. :)

Nice. Did you get an M1 kit and make it work or an M2 kit?

Yeah, it was an M1 kit to begin with. Ended up with a M2 receiver from Roth and built it on that.
I have some spare parts and extras that I'll be listing for sale soon. It was a learning experience. lol.

Its kind of better that way. I think the only real difference between the M1 and M2 is the forend and the way it mounts in the receiver. That and the M1 doesnt have the notch cut in it that prevents you from ghost loading a shell in the elevator. I had to mod my M2 bolt to allow for that.

I put these two in the shooting thread, figured I should add it to the pic sticky:

Guy on AR15 posted this recently:

A while ago I worked at a NDT system manufacturer, and had some access to some X-ray units.

I threw my Omega up and took a few pics. Anchor brake and ASR mount are installed. The pics below are the same one, just with different filters (based on density).

I wish I did more angles, different power settings, and spun it a little to line up the mousehole. But alas, this is what I got.

Thought I'd share!

Some of the internals of my 15 year old SWR Omega 30. There is the welded insert with clips and ports at various locations. Muzzle end is on the left side. Exit end is on the right. There are also two 60 degree looking cones still in the tube. I didn't try to get them out. It was a bitch to open. Took some heat, a broken pin wrench, and finally a set of channel locks.

Turbo K finally came in. Approved Apr 16, found out 2 days ago. 153 day wait time with 2 person trust.

Next goal is to replace the standard mount with the kurtz kit so I can get that weight and length down. Gonna see about testing it out tomorrow.

Should I antisieze the mount/suppressor threads or just rocksett them and hope that keeps it from carbon locking? The mount to can not the mount to muzzle device to be clear.

FWIW...I’ve never used anything on my mount to tube connections. Not on rimfire, pistol or rifle.

How is it to remove the mount? That's my big worry. I don't want to get this mount stuck before I can swap it out for the kurtz kit

Never had one that didn’t come loose when I wanted it to.

A little anti-seize won’t hurt.

I either got my first baffle strike, second day with the can, or I have some funny carbon fouling. It looks like the rifling on the bullet just touched it enough to cut into it. Thankfully it's still functional but man this sucks. I'll inspect more when I get home to verify

That’s not a baffle strike.

It might be an end cap strike, but it’s not a baffle strike. :p

I don’t see a strike there. What are you considering a strike?

Here's a better picture. It's a groove just like the one cut into the end cap but it goes through every baffle. Interestingly it looks like it matches the twist rate of my rifling too since it's in a slightly different spot on each baffle. It's like the rifling from the bullet just barely kissed each one as it went by.

A rotating round projectile is not going to cut a square notch on every baffle as it goes by. Your silencer was made that way.

@some_kid6 remind me which can that is? I think I know but wanted to double-check...

It's a turbo k. If that's the case I will be overjoyed!
It was hard to get a pic, but I can definitely see a distinct line in mine.

You can always send them a pic and see what they say.

Thanks for the pic. I posted it on reddit (here) and the consensus seems to be marks from the EDM process. I've celebrated with a nice margarita

@CHRIS_WNC how many rounds do you have through that omega 30? looks great
Many thousands of 308 and 1500 or so of various 300 blackout. I tried the ultra sonic cleaner at work on it and it got a lot of the soot off. I didn’t go so far as to scrape the carbon off of it though.

I’m going to recoat it with some Moly Resin and seal it all back up nice and tight.

I get a daily “Informed Delivery” email from USPS (neat tool in case you didn't know it was available)...and saw this in today’s email:

4A6AC027-8D5A-4C17-9162-EBD42B21CD03.jpeg

Really confused as I don’t have any forms pending. Then I remembered I sold a can earlier this year. Hoping it’s the approved form and not an error letter.

ETA: pending date was 2/25/20, so this would be a fairly quick approval...especially considering most are taking 30-45 days to arrive. Fingers crossed!!

I’m hoping it’s an approval as well!

Submitted a ATF Form 6 Part I (5330.3A). Went from PERMIT PENDING to PENDING RESEARCH. Doesn't seem like anyone every imported this shotgun (Turkish 30" semi auto 12 ga)

My first NFA item:
10.5
lil p
GG&G MAD ranging rear sight
ODG magpul furniture- SL HGs and stock, K2 PG
ODG Grip Pod
Just got the Lil P today, its difficult to figure out where I need it on the rail but it feels like it needs to be closer to the eye? When I had it all the way forward the lenses and the reticle looked too small but I'll take suggestions.
