Has anybody heard that nikon is getting out of the rifle scope business? I've seen a few threads on other sites but I havent seen anything official from nikon.

I have a 3x9 prostaff and have really been happy with it. I know that they are not top of the line in scopes but a good budget scope.

Good thing I spent the last month studying scopes and mainly ended up focused on Leupold. That would have sucked if I went down Nikon rabbit hole.

anyway, sounds like some great deals are to be expected.

woukd be AWESOME if one of our Nikon aficionados familiar with the various lines and their normal sale/retail price range could list worthy models and “must have” price points. This way we non-Nikon folk know to STFU and just hit “purchase” if some gem deals come up :)

So it's an anti-2a move..? Well glad I don't own any of their optics now...

Edit: my mistake... Carry on...

Nothing in the article indicates that.
Digital camera world titled it.

Agreed. Just fakes news BS by website. The editorial itself says congested market, which makes sense if it’s not your core business and the logistics are expensive and the margins tight.

They did say that their presence in the rifle scope market was a point of contention with the wildlife photography crowd.

I ended up with 10 extra scopes when I heard the news about a month or so ago. The very best and most reliable Big Bore scope ever made, for any kind of money is the Nikon 1X4 Monarch, used to be called the African. There are NONE of those to be found on the planet currently. I have 15 of them, so I am in good shape. We have busted all of them here, we used to have 3-4 Leupold at repair, and 3-4 on the bench waiting for the others to get sent back, on a continuous basis. In one busy year, I busted 18 Leupold scopes. I busted one new 1.5X5 VX3 in 3 rounds. I have busted all the big name expensive scopes here.

After making the switch some years ago to Nikon, I have never had to send a scope back for repair..........

Wrong..... Spoke to BatteryOaksBilly just a bit ago, and he informed me he had indeed located a Nikon 1X4 Monarch on Ebay.............. I went, did the search, found ONE, Bought it immediately, as if I needed another one, but you know, can't have too much of a good thing, especially when their AIN"T no more good things.........
