NO NO NO

I prefer to shoot MiniMags and have a pretty good inventory of them. But I also have a large amount of Federal and smaller amounts of Remington and Winchester. The Remington and Winchester work in revolvers and bolt actions. My SR22 will eat any of them but I don't waste the CCI's on it. I'll run the CCI's in my 10/22's but they'll eat anything, too.

I've had issues with Win 22's also. Its the last time I can recall having dud 22's.

I just bought a lot (cough) of Aguila for 0.04@ std velocity. Those work well.

A little more than a decade ago I noticed my accuracy with a .22 wasn't what it used to be. Then the next day it was, back and forth. The inconsistancy came from grabbing whatever box of .22lr was closest to me.

So I performed a simple test. 10 rounds each of every type of ammo shot from a CZ bolt rifle on a table. The target was a 1" steel plate at 25 yards. I also listened for obvious inconsistency issues and deducted a point. So the score would range from 0 to 10. 10 meaning all 10 rounds were consistent and hit the target.

If I recall correctly, the scores where;

Remington 4
Winchester 5
Federal burgandy box 8
CCI Blazer 9
CCI standard vel 10
CCI mini mags 10

There were half a dozen more and they scored in the 6-8 range.

This seems to mirror my experiences though you did an actual test. Blazer and CCI SV are my preferred rounds. The 36gr HP bulk stuff is a bit hit and miss as to whether my guns like it.

Thats the trick with a 22 rimfire, finding ammo that shoots and shoots accurately in your gun(s). WW T22 is all my Browning Buckmark Bull Bbl pistol will shoot accurately. Only reason I have not bought an Anschutz rifle is finding and paying (thru the nose) accurate ammo for it.

still better than Golden Bullshets. I shoot winchester bulk out of my revolver because I can dump the duds out, rotate em and shoot em again :D

and up until CCI blazer and Fed 325/525 packs got back down around a nickel a piece, it was cheapest copper washed out there.

You talking about the ones in the red plastic 100rd boxes? I tried those a couple of years ago and they patterned like a shotgun. Made a thread about it on the former site. Total crap. Never liked any of their rimfire ammo but centerfire seems to be gtg.

I believe it was the old 550 round value pack (burgundy color), loose in a square box. Not long after Federal changed to a 525 round value pack and a 325 Auto Match. Seems like 525 round pack wasn't as good and Auto Match was a little better, maybe.

I believe @Flashpoint is talking about the Win in the red plastic 100rd box, superX I think. I don't recall ever seeing Federal do 100rd plastic boxes.

I see many thousands shot here on a regular basis. As a common view among all shooters here...Winchester is bad JuJu. CCI MiniMags are manna from heaven. All else somewhere in between. Absolutely not talking about pure accuracy. If you have a semi that won't run on CCI MM, get rid of it.
We have at our disposal a 50 yard indoor range. The only one in the state as far as I know. Top benchrest shooters come from all around to test ammo. I have seen groups that measure .11 center to center open up to .30 just by turning the exhaust fans on. This kind of accuracy is not my cup o tea, but I like to watch these guys shooting these wonderful rifles. They will discard an entire batch of match ammo that is shooting groups I would be excited about. Accuracy means different things to different people. These folks seek a definition that is past my skill. We mostly settle for function first and reasonable [to our expectation] accuracy. These guys are capable of not "shooting for the whites of their eyes", but for their pupils in the eyes. Interesting breed to watch.

William {Billy} Bruton, that reminds me seeing Olympic shooters. 10m on air rifle. If they cannot put all the rounds in an area about the same diameter as the base of a 22 cartridge, they have no chance in the big game.

Accuracy is King in my book. I shoot numerous types of ammo through each rifle I have to see which is the most accurate and dependable and consistant. And when I say accurate I mean one hole at 50 yards or it doesn't cut the mustard. All my serious .22's are bolt guns (Marlin, Anschutz and CZ's) I do have ONE semi auto that can do one hole groups and it's a 46 year old Marlin 99M1 that I picked up in 1972 for $37.50.
CCI and Federal 711b seem to be the preferred ammo across my guns. I just picked up some Federal Match and Ultra Match that I'll test if the weather ever comes back to normal.

Which is sad because I had a few boxes of Winchester super-x left over from the early 1980's that my Marlin 60 and M&P 22c loved. Now Winchester is the joke of the consumer ammo market
