For the cost of membership and monthly plans, I would look into the mobile hotspots offered from the carriers. The biggest downside is throttling if you’re doing a lot of streaming.
My wife and I both work from home and have for years. We have 4 smartphones on our VZW plan (2 for us, 2 for the kiddos) plus 2 mobile internet thingies. Kids use their phone hotspot for school. My wife has her own internet device for work, and I have my own. On a family plan, it’s only $23 a month per line for the mobile internet devices. I’ve never come close to running out of data since I don’t let the kids have access to our devices. If the kids decide to stream a bunch of dumb shit and burn up their “unlimited” 23gb, they are SOL until the next billing cycle resets.
We occasionally stream a show or movie on my laptop using one of our phone’s hotspots as to not use up data on the internet thingies. It has worked out well for us.
