Just finished this project for the wife.

A little back story to go with it. The trees were cut on my wife's family farm more than 75 years ago. Milled on their saw mill and used to build a tobacco barn on the farm. When they no longer used the barn and it fell into a state of disrepair I salvaged some of the lumber. This is where the wood for this project came from.

The wood burning was done by my daughter. The initials in the back board are my father-in-laws. The saw marks from the mill in the back board were left intentionally.20201021_140703.jpg

Beautiful, question for you. I take it the intention is to create more “countertop” by being used as a temp stove cover? If so what do you do with it when the stove is in use?

Let's hope not. I assume you'd just stow someplace in the kitchen temporarily.

What Is A Noodle Board? There's a lot of different ideas of what a noodle board actually is. Some say that it was used to roll out the dough and cut noodles “back in the day.” Others say it's used for kneading bread or pastry dough. Some want to use a noodle board as a stovetop cover to hide unsightly burners.

Very nice. Im sure it means a lot to her preserving the family's past. Wish I saw more things like this in today's world.

Well in my case it is there to provide more usable space (or so they say) while protecting the glass top(so no unsightly burners for me). If I catch someone near this thing with a knife gonna be a shooting at my house. I put a lot of work into this thing and no one better start cutting on it. I have a cutting board for that.
