Just off the phone with ATF on a e form 6 (Importation, 5330.3A). Can't import my one round of .577/.450 Martini Henry. Shipped home a Martini Henry MkIII (1881) last year and then got one round for it. Can import a sporting shotgun and sporting shotgun ammo from Astan. Law prohibits combat shotguns with barrels less then 18". Sporting shotguns are a different class that even the UN allows. Been working on this for two years now breaking the 27 CFR Parts 447, 478, and 479 down.

Now the shotgun I'm trying to import is a cheap Turkish 30" Semi Auto (couldn't get the German Krupp Essen SxS). Problem is that this model has never been imported, so would need to go to ATF for evaluation. That's where we're at and waiting on my approved temp import license to carry to the US with it then have Customs send it to ATF. Then later to my FFL. Long process but hey, I brought this shotgun legally home from Astan after 5+ yrs here. We've been here nearly 20 yrs and no ones broken the code. Answer has always been "NO!" Tried legally to get back a fully engraved BHP, mother of pearl grips, Saddams initials in them that was captured in one of his palaces back in 03'. "No" was the answer but should have talked to ATF back then as it was an item of historical significance and could have been imported.

So you just need to break down the one round and put it inside of shotgun hulls? :D

I remember the AFN commercials reminding you to mail your paperwork to Customs at least 6 weeks prior to your DEROS for any privately owned weapons bought in country. Mailed mine in 12 weeks out, just to be safe. They apparently lost it & by the time I found out, it was too late. Gggrrr...

Don't miss the Taurus .44Mag at all, but the Taurus 4" .357 686 clone was a really, really nice shootin' iron. Hate I had to let it go.

Even Army!

* Especially * anything government related ! ! !

I just got 1800 round of 230 grain 45ACP lead projectiles via USPS flat rate. My wife came in and said "one of your boxes I can't move is on the porch".

I did a few form 6's when I was in the Army. Never had a problem. At the time they wouldnt allow in any "implements of war" but I did geta few CZ-75's in before they were imported en mass and made a pretty penny off them.

So you’re coming home? This gonna be a visit or you planning to stay?

Good grief, how do I remember AFN commercials but not what I did yesterday?

I may not know much, but I know how to practice good opsec and that I can use expired coupons in the commissary.

Hahaha! I spent almost half my career in Europe, so yeah. Some from the early 90's still showing in '07.
