Now the '03-'04 Terminator thread -

Here is another '03 Terminator. You could have two. Just sayin.

Just put a K&N air cleaner element in it.
What. A. Pain. In. The. A$$.
Not the K&N so much, just any air cleaner element.

Nice, Ash. Once you get that trunk lid lined up it'll be perfect. I like the color, always liked silver. And to find an '04 with very low miles and unmolested is rare. You done good.

Oh, I was just messing with you about the trunk lid. It's perfect. I know you'll be out there measuring it. Love ya!

What are you going to tell people what that SVT stands for?

I've changed my thread title since I've taken the discussion totally off topic from new Mustangs to '03 and '04 Terminator Cobras

I know Im coming in late to all the action that started last week - but what is a Terminator Cobra? What is different from a regular?

Hand built engine built by Ford's Special Vehicle Team.
4.6 modular small block with an Eaton blower, and other goodies. It's a whole different beast under the hood than the Ford Mustang GT, which I like also. They only made them in 03 and 04.
390 hp/ 390 tq

The bottom end (crank) is capable of withstanding tremendous additional horsepower and torque when built even more.

@Chdamn posted a great link.

Terminators are the '03-'04 Cobras:

*Supercharged, hand built 32 valve 4.6L
* 6 speed manual
* IRS with 3.55's

Great all round preformers that still hold their own today. Also, super easy to make power with

Getting two new Z rated tires for the back on Friday to match the new ones already on front, and just ordered a Magnaflow cat back exhaust system. It's Christmas in July! Good thing I don't need any more guns or ammo because the fun money is gone.

The exhaust looks like a pretty "easy" install since the pipes are connected behind the cats via bolted flanges and the pipes go under the everything instead of threading the needle over the half shafts.

Cats are overrated.
Can't get a legitimate inspection in Wake County without them. And even if I could squeeze out a couple of illegitimate ones over the next couple of years before I get bored of this car I want the next guy to be able to get it inspected like I'll have to this week to get it tagged.

Fun fact: they were nicknamed "Terminators" because they were built to terminate the competition. IIRC, 2003 was the last year of the Camaro for a few years. GM just couldn't keep up, then or now.

That's what aftermarket flanged cats are for. On for inspection, off for tuned performance.
I get that, but I'm not going to track this car, and changing exhaust once (actually twice) a year without a lift sounds slightly less fun than having a cavity filled (in my teeth @Chdamn, in my teeth.)

2002 was the last year of the Camaro/Firebird (F-Body) platform.
"Terminator" was just the name given to the project by the SVT, just like my engine is called the "Coyote," and the GT350 is called "Vodoo."
I understand that, and yeah 02. So I guess it did its job and lived up to the nickname.
Can't find my original source, but there's some good info here rearding the origin in the name and also mentions a few other things I was unaware of.

Not gonna lie, I still want a Pontiac G8 GXP. I had a Grand Prix GXP, and loved it.
There's a guy here who has one that was built all to heck, sounded like an approaching thunderstorm, and was for sale/sail/cell/sell here. At idle that thing would scare women and small children. Just awesome.

Can't remember his screen name, but have shot a few matches with him. @Whit3TBSS knows him.

It's automatic, so you might be game for it.
Me? I have to have three pedals.

Of we have a TBSS lover on the forum too? My cousin has one, I wouldn't be surprised if @Whit3TBSS knew her.

I loved my Tbss. Probably one of my favorite cars i owned. Has cam, stall, long tubes and made nice power for a big family SUV. I loved rolling kids in their riced out civics then rolling the window down so they could see the baby seat in the back

What about electric cutouts? Flip a switch and cut over to something less restrictive?

Magnaflows that I ordered are basically straight through, but bolt on behind the cats.

Did you get the oval mufflers, or the Magnapack bullet-style? Nice car! I bought my Mach 1 in 04, and was looking at a Cobra also. The dealer knocked a lot off the price of the Mach which swayed me, but I've always regretted not getting the Cobra. My wife loves the Mach so now I can't sell it.

Magnaflow makes two catback systems for the 03-04 Mustang Cobra. Street version and competition version. I ordered the Street version.

...the oval mufflers.

Count on it. I don't know that the new pipes will be that loud, but with the stock exhaust it sounds more like warp drive when I get on it with the supercharger whining. You don't really hear the engine much. Which needs to change. I had Flowmasters on my 92 Fox and they sounded great, but the MagnaFlows seem to be the choice for engine tuners. I don't have that planned just yet, but it could happen later.

I'll never forget when my dad decided to replace the rusted exhaust on his 1964 Ford Country Squire wagon, which had a 352. For those in the know, that's an FE big block.

He had it up on metal milk crates, and had cut the exhaust off with a hack saw and cold chisel. Of course, he had to crank it up once and give it a blast for the next door neighbors before clamping the new system on. lol

Decided to take the missus for a joyride last evening with the top down. She loves the stock exhaust which is no louder than the Cataract DTS we used to own (their last "full sized" sedan, and see what I did there?). I told her that would change soon. Showed her what 5mph - 60mph in around 4.5 seconds feels like. She didn't much like that. At all.

A few miles down the road some young guys were passing me in an Escalade on some unmarked pavement about the time I was shouting for the lady in front of me to "PICK A LANE!"

A guy in the Escalade shouted out his window, "TERMINATOR!!"

My wife thought they were yelling something ugly at me.
I said, "No honey. They know what this is." :)

In the last one in above post It's beyond me how they get away with using belly leather in these seats.
If you're talking about the light gray inserts in the charcoal seats, I am determining after five days of ownership that it must be cloth in these Cobra seats. Speaking of, you might be able to help me. My driver seat on the left side where it gets rubbed getting in and out the leather is surface cracking and I've been looking for a "charcoal" colored "repair, renew" kind of leather product that will have a satin finish and won't come off on clothes after applied. Any thoughts on that?

I'm pretty good with hand applied finishes if I just knew which one would be the best to get.
