NY SAFE Act Compliant Rifle

Through some super dumb luck I got this jewel from a pawn shop for significantly less than the fightlight lower would run me. OK true, it's not going to be a tack driver but I'm guessing it's going to run just fine. I have a PLR16 that works very well and this is the same action with more barrel and stock. Cleaned up better than expected (been sitting in the shop a long time if the tag was to be believed and it needed some love).

It wouldn't be compliant but you can fit a 30 round GI mag in the stock there, it's pretty tricky how it holds 2x 10 rnd OEM mags or 1x 30 rnd GI (PMAGS will not fit in the stock but do feed in the gun obviously).

I was looking to get the SU-16CA which would be compliant if the threaded muzzle was addressed, but finding one was like searching for hens teeth

I've been on the lookout for a CA variant for a while myself. Odd that the "CA" version has a threaded barrel which is a no-no in CA. I wasn't so interested in the threads but rather just having the front sight post moved back off the end of the barrel like on the B variant, but for the price on this guy I just will have to learn to love the longer sight radius. I may have to go back to just the iron sights, the dot seems a little out of place on such a bare bones rifle.

Keltec will sell you the folding stock to turn this into a C model, but they won't sell the fixed stock to turn a C (which are more common) into a B. kinda odd that.

If this guy isn't accurate enough for my tastes though it's going to put me back on the dreaming path of a SCR, I already have an upper in safe to complete it.

Im planning to build one out with wood furniture in 300blk.

Ever do this?

The Safe-Act had a weird off-shoot side effect that I don’t think enough people took advantage of. The Safe-Act didn’t outlaw “assault weapons”. It required that you register them.

Once you register them, it took away many of the restrictions of the 1992 AWB. You could put back on your collapsible stocks, muzzle-devices, etc.

That galls me ALMOST as much as the way those in power pushed through the SAFE Act under cover of darkness, pretty much exactly the way the Pharisees pushed through the arrest and conviction of Jesus under the cover of darkness.

It's nothing more than another shifty way of forcing people onto a path towards future total gun confiscation.

"You can have them...but ONLY if you TELL us you have them."

I feel quite good about NOT living in places like New York, California, Massachusetts, etc.

Fortunately, a good number of folks in NY refused to comply and told the state to go get F’ed.
