Anyone have actual experience with either of these rifles or at least the brands?

Shot both brands, but neither of those specific rifles. Honestly of the two I prefer the Bergara, but that's my preference.

Depends what type of shooting? Target, long range, hunting?

Fun! Casual target shooting. Right now I'm limited to 200 yards. If I decide to pony up the bucks I'll join the Panteo range and can then reach out to 600. Also, I just want one while I currently have the bucks to afford it. Just did a home refi.

I’d go with the Bergara if I had to choose between those 2 but I don’t own either brand. I’m a older Remington fan. I hunt with all my rifles but if I were to get something for long range target, I’d build a 6.5 Creedmoor with an old Remington action. Just my preference.

Bergara hands down. But I'm looking at the market of model 700 accessories that you have to choose from since the bergara has a 700 footprint. Also with the bergara, if you don't like the hmr stock you can dumb it quick for some decent money to upgrade.

I've decided to wait a while. I was looking in my gun safes and realized I have 2-3 times as many long guns as I have short guns. I'm going to work on evening up the numbers a bit more before adding any more long ones.
I appreciate all the advice and will remember it when that time comes. Thanks brothers!

you're definitely my kind of gun people. between the bonus i got this week, the $200 bonus bucks i have at primary arms, and the labor day sale... i'm looking at every single one of their sale items today.

Thanks, any other remarks on the differences between the two? How does the HACT trigger compare to the 700 tactec/Timney/etc triggers the Bergara can use? What barrel length would you want in a 6.5 CM and 308 to hit 1000 yards?
All the triggers were set a 2.5 lbs and were great. I would get a 24/26 in barrel for either at 1000 yds.

One of my friends has a Howa 1500 with a HS Precision stock and another friend has the Bergara B-14. The Howa runs rings around the Bergara with both factory and handloads. He's thinking of selling it. It could be that the Bergara has a 20 inch barrel(?) Timney and maybe even Basix now make replacement triggers for the HACT. I have a Howa 6.5 CM with a 26 inch barrel and the HACT trigger (I can't get it below 2.0 pounds) and it will shoot an average 1/2 moa and even less on a good day. Howa has a long history of making quality rifles.
