Old Fort VOD - The Gun Run 3/8 and 3/9

I figured so. She already has given ya luck 👍🏻

This run was brutal. The Match Director should be ashamed of himself.

How dare he allow Fog, Rain, No Wind to clear smoke and zero Moonlight?! Didn't he know that guys spend $10,000 on NV Gear and don't want to get it muddy and wet or be shocked that it doesn't work in an austere environment?!

Some not so happy campers I take it?

Of the 3 nighttime runs I’ve done at VOD, that one was probably the most fun. I didn’t have to run it in the rain, but there was plenty of mud. At one point I plopped into a mud hole up to my nuts and just started laughing.

I think it was the nighttime event this time last year where the stages were a little too difficult in my opinion.

I was concerned that the courses of fire would be a bit too complicated, but they were all pretty attainable. I DNFed stage 5 due to poor ammo management. I also froze on the grenade targets for some reason, I wasn’t expecting cardboard baddies in camo maybe?

Friday night, for the Night Vision guys, was about as bad of conditions as you could get. The fog was so thick that targets (full size torsos at 50 yards) were washing out. Steady, fairly heavy, rain made the footing really bad. If you're not really experienced with how to run with it, NV gear gets fogged over and becomes almost useless in those conditions.

So, yeah, there were a lot of guys that weren't real happy.

Saturday night was almost perfect. Wind came up just enough to clear the smoke away and dry out the some of the course. We had zero fog or cloud cover and a fair amount of natural light. Lots more shiny happy faces after the runs.

That's the attitude!
