Yesterday a truck tripped the gate alarm and I ambled out to see if all was well. A young man of 50 that owns a LGS and Indoor Range stopped by. I have known this man since he was 15. His Daddy was the Harley Davidson Dealer in Murder Beach for 23 years. He shot with us when he was a kid and got Damn good.
We commonly put on matches in the 80s that would draw 50 or more shooters a month. This man was in his teens then. He watched, listened and learned. In '98 he opened his LGS and Range. Times have been hard for folks around here in the retail gun business but since he had the forethought to build an indoor range and be one of the first to teach the CWP classes that had Just come out, he kept his head above water. Yesterday he said he was Sold Out of every gun and every box of ammo he had in the store. Unfortunately, restocking is a Big problem.
The reason for his visit was to bring a Huge box of fruits and vegetables to us. Onions, peppers, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, apples, oranges and cantaloupe. We talked about old times and he was all always thankful to us for helping him be able to live his dream.
Old Friends to the rescue in hard times. I was never more proud of that young man than yesterday. Old Friend indeed...

Old friends are wheat among the chaff and a jewel to be treasured.

My tag line:
Always be good to your friends. Because without them, you're just another stranger.
