Anyone else into old garden tractors ? I had two of the mid 60's cubs out today ...a 122 with the manual 3 speed and the 123 with the bulletproof Sunstrand Hydro.

The "modern" Grassinator is a 3 cyl Kubota diesel powered 782 from the late 80's I think

I've been drooling over these two on CL.. I want but just can't justify it right now.

Here's the 122 when I got it a few months ago. It was a *little* run down. The bad news is due to the genius of the previous owner, the wiring harness had melted itself into oblivion. The good news is because of that, it didn't have a lot of run time. With a rebuilt carb, a used wiring harness swap, a new condenser and coil wire and points cleaning, the cast iron Kohler 12 horse engine runs super and uses no oil. I had to unfreeze the clutch from the pressure plate as well. In the words of an earlier owner "it's woods fresh"....

I've got about $400 total in both of 'em . They're not pretty, but they're not quite as ugly as they once were, and they show honest wear :)

My grandfathers first and only riding mower.
They don’t make them like they use to.
Still has the local dealership/garage sticker on the side.
I like the old international carts. Some are quite rare.

Not a cub, but an old Mowett Mustang that I am getting ready to take to Denton. I should have this one there, and old Fairbanks Morse riding mower, a few JD's, a Wheelhorse
or 2, and I may even bring an IHC. I will try to find a photo of my 20's reel mower with the Ideal hit & miss on it.Mowett.jpg

That's a good looking rig... These things keep running and running and running.

I got into these because I got tired of disposable tractors from Lowes. These old tractor/mowers with the most basic of maintenance will run forever.

There was one of those in Raleigh Craigslist a while back and I almost got it. I'd love to see the hit and miss . Is yours running?

I'm going to try and go to Denton. Never been and it's a good day trip from Raleigh. If so I'll look for the Mustang.

I have two Sears Suburbans, a twin cylinder that runs and a single cylinder that doesn't. They are cool little machines.

Looking at purchasing this Sears Suburban SS16 later this week..! I have a Sears Earthcavator just waiting for a tractor and this might be the one..

Hope to get to the show at Denton myself..!C__Data_Users_DefApps_AppData_INTERNETEXPLORER_Temp_Saved Images_00V0V_jyZzexeohYB_1200x900.jpg C__Data_Users_DefApps_AppData_INTERNETEXPLORER_Temp_Saved Images_00l0l_akUmKZqeGpT_1200x900.jpg

That's a nice looking Suburban. I've eyed them in the CL ads over the year and that one looks to have the hitch you need....

What is the Denton show. I’m not to far from there if it’s something worth going to.
Tractor show man, good stuff if you like old iron. There's a ton to see.
There's a small car show usually, and a little bit of stuff for sale.
Pulls and demos throughout as well.
Great way to spend a day sweating.

I will see if I have some photos of the reel mower. The Mustang runs, but it drives like a wagon. SOLID tires!
I like the old mowers and have a few. I also still use a 2 wheel David Bradley in my garden.

Hopefully I can get it...!

This Suburban is about 6 hours drive from me one way, I'm waiting on more pictures to decide if I want to make the trip.
Supposedly, it was used on a golf course as a "yard tractor" and stored inside the club house/shop. It also acted as a secondary mower if their primary mower was down. At one point a golf cart ran into the right fender/running board and wrinkled the sheelmetal a tiny bit. Otherwise it is supposed to be cherry.... Time will tell..!

Hate I missed the info on the show. Would have been a good opportunity to move my Farmall Super A that I just don’t have time for. Way too many projects going on at the moment

Funny this thread is up, my uncle just bought a 982 IH, and it got me wanting a small IH myself. I grew up on a red farm and have red now, but not a small IH.

If any of you know of a 682, 782, 982 or a good yellow one for sale let me know.
