Old pics.

Awesome pics!

Did his family by chance own a beet farm? He resembles a beet farmer I have seen before.
Dad wasn't a big talker. His father died young, Granny was a nurse in Columbia. Dad was a war correspondent in the China/India/Burma theater of operations before marrying Mom in 1947. Then he "got the call" to go to seminary.

My Dad circa late '41, early '42. Enlisted as a SEABEE, commissioned almost immediately. Beachmaster: first wave Anzio, first wave Omaha Beach (Bronze Star for gallantry), first wave Okinawa.

Grandad, and great grandad, both on my dad’s side. 1926 at Valley Forge celebrating 150 years, with the Fayetteville Light Infantry. One of the oldest militias in the US.

Might as well bump this with a couple of mine.

My grandad (middle) and his brother (right) on home for leave from the Navy sometime during late WWII.

Same guy as on the left in the above photo. Not sure who he is. This was during his time at NAS Opa Locka

Again, home on leave with his father. Great grandad was a sharecropper, and later a sawyer. This was cutting timber for the portable sawmill he built.

If I turn out to be half the man he was, I'll be doing alright.

How much time, or bandwidth, do we have?

Elizabeth Matilda Kannup. Probably 1910 or so. 3rd great grandmother moms side.

Went through my moms stuff this summer and rounded up a truck bed full of boxes of pictures and old letter. On top of hundreds I already scanned. These are off my phone from this summer.

Father-in-law - circa 1912

FIL circa 1912.jpg

My kind of cousins, even if they did go to California - 1939

Cousins in CA 1939.jpg

Maternal great-grandparents and 10 of their 11 children - circa 1910

GGparents and family circa 1910.jpg

And a different version of the above photo. The dog changed her pose, as did two of my great aunts.

matGGPfamily.jpg

My great-aunt Della, the smallest child on the end, told me they made her uncross her arms after the first pose, but she crossed her legs in the second pose because she needed to pee!

My great-aunt Ethel said she propped her arm on her sister's shoulder in the second pose because she had gotten bored with waiting.

Finally, my grandparents had to have a photo with me and my new rifle ... before I even got to shoot it. I am reasonably sure the white socks hurt my accuracy when I got to shoot later.

The Fabric Firehose Company, Sandy Hook, Ct. My grandfather was the manager for many years. Not sure where he is in the picture, my mom knew but I dont remember her showing me. I'll try to identify him with some magnification, if that doesn't work I might try to extract the photo from the 100 year old hand made frame and see if that exposes some info.
