So my loving wife has taken notice of my affection for older Remington firearms, specifically 60's through 90's 700 BDL's, 1100's, Wingmasters and Nylons. She bought me a Remington 32 over/under, which I didn't know existed. Google has limited info on these and was wondering if anyone here has anything to offer.

It supposedly dates to the 1930's to 40's and is in 70% condition (?). Both barrels are like mirrors on the inside. Very light pitting on receiver, which has a pointer (dog) engraved on each side. Wood is good with no cracks or splits, lightly dull from age. Ends of barrels show some wear from sliding in and out of a case. Locks up tight. Thanks for any help offered!

So I now see, after posting pics, full and mod were scratched out and mod imp cyl were added. Was it sent back to the factory to change the choke or were the barrels replaced?

I can't help with info but I can say that's a very nice piece of Remington history. Where do you guys find wives like these?

The 32 was the forerunner of the 3200 which is still in use today on skeet and trap fields around the country. The locking mechanism of the 32 was indeed sold to Krieghoff at some date and is still in use today. I believe the newer 3200 use the Anson and Deely system but don't quote me on that. As to your choke markings, the gun was originally bored Full and Mod which was the most common choke of that era and it appears that those barrels were later opened up to Mod and cylinder is is a little strange since there was already a mod barrel but obviously not in the position the owner wanted. Most shot gunners of that era wanted the rear trigger to fire the under (or in the case of a SXS, the left barrel first) and have the more open choke followed by the tighter barrel in anticipation of a longer shot on the second try.
The fact that the wood is still in good condition is in your favor, since there isn't much replacement wood left which would relegate you to a custom maker if you needed a replacement, can you say $$$$$$$$$$$......
Be very careful in your "cleaning" of the gun, sometimes unknowing owners "clean" a lot of value down the drain. I'm sure you know what I mean.... Go shoot and enjoy it but NO magnum loads and absolutely NO steel!!!

@Bailey Boat

Thanks for the info! I'm gonna throw this out there cause it is what it is now. She paid $650. Did she get taken advantage of? It may be better than 70% for something this old, maybe less,I'm no appraiser. It actually looks better than these pics show, they get down to the detail I guess.

Also, the pad says "Pachmyr", not Remington. So the original pad was replaced at some point?

I'd need to hold the gun in order to give a fair comment. It's impossible in pictures.....
Rubber recoil pads will dry out over time and if their stored sitting on the butt it speeds that process so a replacement pad isn't unusual assuming it was done in a professional manner...

We can try to make that happen, maybe at a sporting clay event. I'm booked up this week. You ever travel down here?

Never been there, pretty far from Kannapolis. Maybe later in the year I could make the trip. We could also meet at the Gastonia Parks range (Rankin Lake) one weekend?? They have skeet and trap only....

Never been there, but Gastonia is pretty close to me. That would explain the shots I hear when I've stopped at QT on 321! Rocky Creek is a short haul for me, but I grew up down there and usually go visiting before or after shooting. It's a nice course. Never shot skeet or trap, I'd like to try it. I'm not a competitive shooter but I enjoy the sport.

The second link might be a good one to keep, in case you need work on it in the future. I would say you got an excellent bargain at that price, assuming it shoots and the barrels are fairly well regulated (meaning they both shoot to approximately the same point of impact).

Don't discount any comments from the guys on Trapshooters.com. There are some old guys on there who have shot many, many rounds of shotgun shells, especially at trap.

if there is "any" faith in Blue Book... 60% shows $700
assuming there are 2 digits after the 19 on serial, 1935 ish gun.

I'd also agree original choke constriction has been altered and documented.
