For me it was seeing George Jones play the Municpal Auditorium Charleston WVa in 2008. I have been to countless concerts and have seen some great shows but hearing George Jones sing "He Stopped Loveing Her Today" and "Whose Gonna Fill Their Shoes" brought me to my knees. The venue was great and it was a privilage to see such a legend with a crowd that truley appreciated good country music.

I'm not a big concert person, but my first concert was pretty good. I saw Hank jr at the WVU coliseum. I was probably 11-12 years old. There was a big fight in the front row, Hank was loaded, and a couple about 10 rows behind us were screwing and got spot lighted. Hank yelled don't stop fella while the security was trying to get them apart.

Lollapalooza 1993: Primus, Alice in Chains, Tool, Rage Against the Machine
Was White Zombie there? A close friend who was like a big brother got me a Tshirt from Lollapalooza 93'. Sadly my mother thought nine was too young to attend.

The Rolling Stones in Charlotte in 1972 On the Exile On Main Street tour was probably the best, but I have fond memories of my first event: The Zombies AND the Searchers at Park Center in '64 or '65 (8th grade for me).

For me the best was a month of shows that I really enjoyed.

I saw Johnny Cash, the next weekend was White Zombie, following week was Jerry Reed, then the last weekend was Johnny Cash again.

That was one of the best months of my life.

Back in 2009 in a motorcycle road trip with my Dad we happened to be in Nashville on a Tuesday night. Got tickets to the Opry and ended up seeing a great show with a variety of people. Charlie Daniels, Bill Anderson, Pam Tillis Darius Rucker, Jewel and a couple others.

~94

Eric Clapton "From the Cradle" tour at the Palace in Auburn Hills (Detroit), MI.

We got 'cheap' obstructed view tickets - obstructed turned out to be about 50 FEET from the stage and looking over the band's shoulder, kinda behind and off to the side. Great seats, AWESOME show.

Jeff Healey....saw him at a little dive place somewhere in LA/MS. that was a fun night.

OH I got another one. I saw Dereck Trucks in a dive bar late 90's before he joined the Allman Brothers Band. It wasn't even the Double Door... I can't recall the place. There was no stage it was just the band tucked into a corner of the room with a bunch of drunks nearly bumping into them. Damn but that boy can play!

I'll have to go with two....... first was George Jones and Conway Twitty in Fayetteville the second was Merle Haggard in Asheville.

I thought I recognized you from somewhere..:p

I don't like large groups of idiots so if I go to a concert it is usually a super small venue.

We went to Lalapaloser though, Firebird Raceway in then Chandler, Az just south of Phoenix. 110f+, waited all day to see Primus who went on just about last. I don't have much in the way of fond memories of that day.

Bucket list concerts for me was either The Ramones at Toads Place or the Pixies up in Rochester at the old Armory.

I went to a bunch of Grateful Dead shows all over California. Well, at least I think I did....

It was always quite the spectacle. Kind of like a freak show circus with a concert going on.

There was also a small, private Harry Belafonte show at a vineyard in Northern Cali once. Could not have been more than 75 people there. That dude was cool.

I followed Phish/WSP/Greatful Dead offshoots for several years and the lot scene was indeed a circus.

Wow, you guys have seen some good ones. I got to see The Earl Scruggs Review at Carowinds, David Allen Coe at House of Blues, The Grand Ole Opry in 1976. There were many greats at the Grand Ole Opry but the most memorable performer I have ever seen was Marty Robbins. He's the only performer that I've seen that was having as much fun as the audience.

I would have liked to seen Marty Robbins.

I got to see Stevie Ray Vaughan in'86 or '87. Sadly, he was too F'd up & just mailed it in. Fortunately, Bonnie Raitt opened & she was worth the price of admission all by her lonesome. Saw Clapton in '85 & was kind of underwhelmed. I love Cream, Delaney & Bonnie, Derek & the Dominoes, 'n Blind Faith, but I just don't dig the stuff he got into later.

Seeing Van Halen with DLR for their 1984 tour was cool, though 1984 was my least favorite of their albums (& is where the band 'died' for me). Poor opening act played about 1/2 a song before they got tired of dodging beer bottles, which I thought was an asshole move on the bottle throwers' part. Catching Deep Purple in '86 for their reunion/Perfect Strangers tour was awesome. FWIW, I saw DP again last fall & Ian Gillan is still killin' it at 70+ y/o.

I guess the 'ultimate' for me was getting to see Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes in Raleigh in '00. I've been a huge Zeppelin-head since I was a kid, so it was awesome to see one of my guitar heroes & hear 3 1/2 hours of live Zeppelin done right. Killer show & hooked up with a smokin' hot red-headed cougar.

The Eagles and Pink Floyd. The best was at a party when I was at ASU. We went to a house party out in Deep Gap and Doc & Merle Watson played for a while.

I moved here from Michigan in December 2003. Sometime that month the wife and I decided to go some festival at some local camp that had some folks I'd never heard of.

As we were walking in, Ralph Stanley got on stage. Everybody just kind of stopped what they were doing and he broke into "O Death". I've been a fan ever since.

I would have been beside myself. Too freaking cool.

Same as above.. Awesome stuff. Doc and Ralph Stanley are the core of my most played Pandora channel.

I went in Charlotte in 93 and Raleigh at Walnut Creek in 94. Great shows and I’m really not much of a big concert goer. Took my younger brother to Pink Floyd Division Bell tour at Clemson in 94. Also saw the Grateful Dead in Charlotte in 95 not long before Jerry died. Honestly got drug to that show by a buddy but had a good time and am glad I went.

In March of 95? I went to that show. I'm not sure if I ever made it inside or not. But I know I hung out in the parking lot for at least two nights.

Then went to the "impromptu vigil" at Independence Park in August when Garcia died. The wannabe hippy chicks I was with kinda got mad because I got distracted by a snapping turtle in the park. But then again, so did the cops.

Been a Metallica fan since I was a kid and finally got to see them a couple years back in Houston. My absolute favorite band (Volbea) opened for them and it was a kickass show.

My bucket list show would be to see Volbeat play a show in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Does seeing MC Hammer, Boyz II Men and TLC at Carowinds count as a bucket list show? :D

...cause that was my first concert ever.

I saw Hootie 4 times when they were selling Kootchypop CDs out of boxes. I saw Tim McGraw at Coyote Joes when he was selling “buffalo briefs” (boxers with a buffalo printed on the butt) out of boxes. Bryan Adams show was one of the best I’d ever seen. Enjoyed Jimmy Buffet every time I’ve seen him.

I was there as well. Not a fan by any means...and would’ve enjoyed it much more had it been outside. But a girl I worked with took me as “payback” for me taking her to see Alabama not long before that. Glad I got to see GD before Jerry died that August. I’ll have to dig the shirt out and post a pic tomorrow.

Yep, I think it was March or April. I remember it was before college was out for the summer. I didn’t think we would make it inside but we finally did. Buddy I went with was making friends with everyone and partaking in everything that was offered. Ended up sleeping in the parking lot and hanging out most of the next day. If I remember, it was a three day show and we went on day 2.

I had a shirt also, not sure it’s still around. I did end up with a small dancing bear sticker on my old 69 cj5 I drove up there. Jeep hasn’t been on the road since 98 but the sticker is still there.

Dude, I was at all those shows in different venues... Lol...

1. All Campus Weekend at NCSU in, I think, 1970. I don't remember all the groups but it was a weekend long outdoor party, and my girlfriend (now wife of 46+ years) and I had a great time. I believe Alice Cooper was at this one.
2. Marshall Tucker, James Gang, and Firefall in Hartford, CT around 1973. Four of us were eating dinner at Gionfriddo's Italian restaurant across from the civic center and bought the concert tickets on a whim after seeing the crowd.

Here’s the T...liked the tribute to the Hornets.

And even though it’s filthy, I’ve hung onto this one.

As far as bucket list shows, the two I wish I’d seen but didn’t want to spend the money on are Garth in his prime, and the Elton John/Billy Joel tour.

I’ve seen Elton by himself 25 times. I saw Elton and Billy together on their first tour in Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Toronto.

Best show for me is when my wife and I saw Elton John in Ashveville, NC on his solo tour. Just him and his piano back in the early 2000’s. You don’t realize how good he is unless you see him live. We were center stage, 20 rows back at their civic center.

Far to many to list.... parents started me young taking me to Merle Fest for the summer vacation.... Some of the best times of my life! Had several Ozzfest shows that were epic. Ozzy was broke down and hobbling drunk but the other bands were face melting awesome!
