Once in a lifetime/Bucket List Concert

I got to see Stevie Ray Vaughan in'86 or '87. Sadly, he was too F'd up & just mailed it in. Fortunately, Bonnie Raitt opened & she was worth the price of admission all by her lonesome. Saw Clapton in '85 & was kind of underwhelmed. I love Cream, Delaney & Bonnie, Derek & the Dominoes, 'n Blind Faith, but I just don't dig the stuff he got into later.

Seeing Van Halen with DLR for their 1984 tour was cool, though 1984 was my least favorite of their albums (& is where the band 'died' for me). Poor opening act played about 1/2 a song before they got tired of dodging beer bottles, which I thought was an asshole move on the bottle throwers' part. Catching Deep Purple in '86 for their reunion/Perfect Strangers tour was awesome. FWIW, I saw DP again last fall & Ian Gillan is still killin' it at 70+ y/o.

I guess the 'ultimate' for me was getting to see Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes in Raleigh in '00. I've been a huge Zeppelin-head since I was a kid, so it was awesome to see one of my guitar heroes & hear 3 1/2 hours of live Zeppelin done right. Killer show & hooked up with a smokin' hot red-headed cougar.
I was at the Black Crowes/Jimmy Page show but couldn't tell you the first thing about the show. The first and last time I drank Goldschalger (I wish 16).

In my younger years saw a lot of bands from blue oyster cult to kiss( my first concert), but the best was Sammy Hagar on the voa tour
He climbed on to a catwalk in the top of the old Charlotte colosium and sang voa while waving an American flag, this one will forever be my favorite

We're looking forward to Sep 15's Outlaw show at Walnut Creek (seats away from the loonies!) Willy Nelson's probably not gonna make it, we want to see Alison Kraus & Bonnie Raitt. Line up-->Willie Nelson & Family, Bonnie Raitt, Alison Krauss , Lukas Nelson & POTR, Stephanie Quayle

I saw Pink Floyd way back when, also saw Frank Zappa do one of his Halloween concerts at the Palladium.
Seen a crap load of bands in the 70s and 80s. Plasmatics, PIL, Twisted Sister, Ozzy, Yes, Uriah Heep, Rush, ACDC, Def Leopard, etc.
Going to see Jinjer next month.

How was Rush & Yes?

Just wow. Wendy O'

But let's see ...

Super high energy: Social Distortion & The Ramones in Boston; George Thorogood in Austin.
Before they were famous: Eric Johnson @ TAMU
Good niche bands: Moxy in Austin; Madam X in Houston
Cerebral: Return to Forever in Houston; Paul O'Dette (lutenist) in Burlington, VT
Just most epic: Joan Jett in Austin and being allowed to bring in a half-dozen roses.

I saw a LOT of bands/concerts growing up. I loved going. Saw nearly everyone I wanted to see, except for a few.
Probably my most memorable was seeing Robert Plant on the Now & Zen tour in Charlotte. We were front row, center.
Being a huge Led Zep fan, but too young to have seen them, it was a dream show for me. It's been 30 years or so, and it seems like yesterday.
