Was picked up by one of my security cameras at 4:31am this morning. He was coming out of the natural area out front and crossing my driveway and headed for the woods.

Surprisingly he didn’t leave any clear prints in the yard on either side of the driveway. The soil is very soft from the rain and there are tracks, but not distinct prints.

He/She looks large, healthy, and well fed.

Got a good count all your cats?

We only have one and she is inside after midnight. She was born in a barn and spent her first year on a farm.

She’s very streetwise when it comes to wildlife and knows when to get her butt inside or go somewhere if a large predator is nearby.

That's a rather stout looking pooch there.

Is that a dog or a wolf?

It’s a big one for sure. I saw a comparable Coyote soon after we moved into this house 17-1/2 years ago running down the Duke power line easement behind our house.

Sure is!
I haven't seen one that big.

Have any rabbits around?

Ours was a street kitty for at least part of his life, so I'm hoping he's road & critter savvy. He likes to wander over to the neighbor's to hunt & hang out with their shop cat & spends an inordinate amount of time prowling the woods. He likes to sleep indoors overnight & will come in when it's really cold, but it doesn't hurt his feelings too much if he gets left out.

Off and on we see rabbits. We had a big Maine Coon that caught and ate rabbits like they were the last thing on Earth to eat from 2004 - 2015. It took a few years after he died before we started seeing squirrels and rabbits again but they’re back.

He would drag them through his cat door into the garage and lay them down next to, or in, his food bowl. Later that night or the next morning, only feet or a tail would be left.
