One of my roughest experiences is the Army...

Nothing beats trying to take a crap after eating c-rats for 21 days is no day in the park.

A bit hard on the system.

Don't eat the meatloaf. I've never had stomach pains so bad in my life...literally doubling over as we marched with full gear.

I always liked the
"Chicken, grill marks added."
The grill marks were added with a black sharpie. The chicken was an oversized McNugget.

Ingredients listed “Smoke flavor”

The current Pork Sausage Patty, Maple Flavored is fuggin gross!!

MRE Beef Slices and BBQ sauce! always left in the box so I began to actually like them. I also have had a P38 can opener on my key chain since the 80's.

Uggh. Between those and the first run of Franfurters w/ Bean Component, I thought I'd died and gone to hell. Especially in cold months when that placenta on the hotdog things would solidify.

My favorite of those was the pork patty. Would crumble it up in a canteen cup and add water, the crackers, cheese, some Ramen and some of Ft Bragg's famous field onions and let it steam up into...something.

Edit to add:

The best part of MREs back in those days happened while in Korea. We could trade them in at Mom's bongo truck in the field for something like a bunch of Yaki or a Ramen with cheese and a kimchi Coke. Mmmm

Hint...I mentioned it in an earlier post.

I’ll see you and raise with “Tina ‘n Noodles” being the worst!
The John Wayne and Maple Nut bars were both some awesome trade fodder though.

We used to receive meat that was stamped "Not fit for human consumption" by the California Department of Corrections. Almost every stores load.

And submarine chow is the good stuff in the Navy.

...Beef Stew and Chicken-a-la-King were always saved for nap-of-the-earth flying on the 130's...when no one is looking, put a bunch in your mouth...grab a vomit bag and put on a show, then scoop it back out of the bag into your mouth and eat it...everyone sitting near you that is barley holding it back then vomits for real...absolutely hilarious :D, unless your were one of the safeties or the loadie...

LOL! I've seen the co-pilot come down & pass his barf bag down the line to the loadie who'd sniff the contents, then get him a big scoop of cream of mushroom soup & proceed to eat it.

Whenever we had a ERO in the summer, a bud would bring a baloney & ketchup sandwich in cargo pocket. By the time we'd get wheels up, he'd eat his sandwich & that hot baloney & ketchup stench would get folks queasy. Gotta have a dip after ya eat, right? <thump thump thump> 'n he'd pop a big ol' chaw in his lip & start looking for his first victim. He'd make eye contact with whoever was looking the sickest, let a little dribble of Cope run down his chin & swallow.
