While the 6.0 was idleing its changed tune and started chuffing lightley. I knew something was up so I immediately started to head towards the house. But I didnt make it that far, its sitting on the tow yard now and they are going to bring it to the house tomorrow. going to check my fuel pressure tomorrow, if that checks out good then Im going to look at the ICP and so forth.pictures to come once the repair starts.
One of those days.....

Has it been "bullet proofed" yet? I like those motors when fixed better than what ford did, they make good power!

No, just an egr delete, the heads arent leaking so ill take care of that if they do. A good friend has one with almost 800k on the original engine and trans, he had to replace two injectors, other then that it has just been maintenance.

I truly belive that these were given a bad name by guys that wanted them "trunt up" and didnt understand the way the engine was built.
Now dont get me wrong, some did have issues, but how many were brought on by bubba with a tuner? Great engine, Im lucky enought to have a very early 03, so no need for a tuner just to do the egr delete.

You either get a good 6.0 or you don't, tuner or not, I've seen plenty of people with bone stock engines have the same failures of those with tuners. These engines have a number of factory issues (some more than others depending on the year). I've dealt with just about every common 6.0 issue with mine. IMO your buddy got EXTREMELY lucky if all he's really done is a couple injectors.

Curious to hear exactly what yours is doing.

Its acting like it is starving for fuel, it started to lose power, stopped being responsive to the throttle, if I let it sit with the pump running eventually it would start back. Ill know more when it gets towed home and I hook my snapon tool to it.

I have a 7.3 that quit suddenly. I don't know if the 6.0 is anything like the 7.3 but the first thing to check would be the crank sensor. If the crank sensor has gone bad then it won't tell it to build oil pressure to fire the injectors. Good luck with your diagnosis.

So Ill know more next week, my time was very limited today so all I did was a few simple things. Changed fuel filters, checked to make sure that it was getting fuel and that the pump was working properly. All of that checked out, when I get the snapon tool on it Ill know more. At this point Im starting to worry about the high pressure oil pump, if I have to go that deep into it were looking ad a pretty penny. Im fairly certain its that or the icp, Im hoping for just an icp.

Yea, been there, done that. I changed IPR, stand pipes, dummy plugs, injector o rings, and polished the nipple cups while I was in there. I don't recall if the 03 has the same HPOP as an 04 but mine was a pretty straightforward r&r by itself, but like you said, it wasn't cheap. Need to check your IPR duty cycle as well, you MIGHT get off lucky and have a bad IPR.

Out of curiosity, have you checked your FICM voltage?

You close to cumberland co by chance? If so, I might still have a known good IPR laying around in the shop you can try( if 03 and 04 share the same), new screen and o ring kit on it.

Im going to hook up the snap on tool on the AM Ill know more then. This one is early 03 so they are not interchangeable to my knowledge, but thank you for the offer.
