Help me out here o'computer literate?

I have been communicating with an Amazon tablet for years and just dealing with the limitations and problems. This one is achieving. Service life though and I am giving thought to replacing it with a MacBook Pro 11.0 256 GB 2022 model and 5th generation.

I have never owned a Mac and I would like to run this APP, some other useful APPs and some e windows specific stuff like.Office. Obviously the graphics will.be easy.

Let me know if I might be smart to load and operate this thing.

P.S. They make a special crayon for people like me too!

If you are using an Amazon tablet now and are happy, a regular iPad will probably be a big upgrade. If you want a laptop, a Macbook Air will be a great computer for you. You can run most apps including Microsoft Office on either one.

Been using Apple computers since before the Mac was introduced. Also had to use company-supplied Windows machines for many years. I am not a computer guy but I can find my way around both systems. If it’s my own money for my own use, it’s Apple all day every day. If you’re used to Microsoft, Apple has a different way of doing things; don’t fight it. Learn how they want you to do stuff and go with the flow.

Unless you need the functionality of a laptop, I would go with the Ipad if you've decided to switch to a Mac. There is a Mac version of Microsoft Office, most apps and software have versions that run on Apple products. I use primarily Apple products but there is nothing wrong with many of the Windows tablets on the market. The Surface Pro tablets are really nice and you wouldn't have to deal with learning a new OS.

Whether you do Windows , Apple , or Linux, the desktops all look familiar enough that you'll be able to function with any of them. I'm pretty sure I've bought my last Windows product.

Probably me too, just ordered a 10.9 Mac Pro. I am tired of Windows since
They left 3.11.

I've been using Microsoft Surface tablets for a few years now. Had a Pro 4 that just died two months ago. Replaced it with a Surface Pro 7. All my accessories like the charger, cover, mouse, stylus pen and keyboard are interchangeable so I didn't have to buy anything extra a second time. The Surface machines are the most trouble free experiences I've had with computers. Great that they are both tablets and laptops when you need to get some work done.

The major problem with new MacBooks and including the 2022 is that it has no fans built in to cool the computer down. This is a major design flaw and can lead to catastrophic failure for the computer hardware due to iver heating. If you decide to do anything intensive on the computer including the occasional game or possibly even watching videos while something is downloading it may overheat your computer. Apple may have done this in my opinion because they suck and want to destroy your computer faster so you have to buy another instead of it having a decent lifespan.

While not a Apple person, Mac's are great for Desktop publishing, anything graphics, MS make Office for both Mac / Windows
there's also a Office suite for Android (not MS) that works great. The learning curve is not that hard, think Monterey is the lastest
OS for MAC, anyway the way Apples have the desktop and how it handles files is a little different. I just don't like being "locked"
into Apple's platform. There are some bugs here and there like with Windows. Also heard of overheating issues..
Windows..MS keeps doing things to "improve it" so they say, has so many bugs with their patch "Tuesday" releases. Windows
10 LTSC is a Nice running OS, Same with Windows 7 SP3, Even have Windows XP-SP3 running on some old Dell Boxes. Windows
11 what ever build you use some are ok and others not so much. I mod my OS's getting rid of the things you don't need. Currently
now using a Windows 10 "PE" (Bootable) run it from a Thumb-drive, or *cough* DVD.. doing all this.. Use "portable" appz that don't
need to be installed...

I've been in computers since the Heathkit H-8 days... HDOS, CPM, CPM85, 86, CCPM, MPM, DOS all versions, Windows from the beginning
out to the current versions.

The Amazon Tablet, we have 2 of the newer ones, mine has many things "sideloaded" modded Andriod OS..browers, APK's, etc. and
mine is still not bonded to Amazon.. Her's has some mods here and there, some sideloaded APK's

Windows / Apple is a debate like Ford / Chevy, Small Block vs Big Block, Smith vs. Colt... if you know what I'm saying..each has it's haters
and likers...

either or will work....determine what your going to be doing and go from there

I love my iPad Pro but it’s getting long in the tooth so I might have to replace it before the years out. I have a MacBook and hate it. Not a computer guy.

I have a older Mac Book Pro. Got it new in 2013 it has served me well. It began showing it’s age and slowing down last year. Up until 4 years ago, it had 3 user profiles. My son got his own Mac Book Pro and moved his profile to his computer. Since then it has had 2 user profiles, and I use it intensely for college. At work we had windows and I was familiar with Microsoft operating systems. When I switched to Mac, there was a learning curve, but not as bad as I anticipated. If I can learn Mac, anybody can learn to use Mac.

There are several computer savvy people on the forum that may have more to offer than I. One that comes to mind is @amnesia. He is the man when it comes to computers.

I bought the latest version IPad air wireless w/256.

I wanted a change and everyone tells me I will be much happier than with an android machine. I hope so!
You made the right decision. Apple does not require hundreds of dollars each year of virus control and software updates. It’s free. My Mac is 8 years old and we have 3 Ipads here that get hours of use daily each. Phones are Apple also so everything is integrated to push to each devise. Only Ipad issue has been falling off bed while charging and the charging port was damaged. I have not had to have onsite paid help since switching to Apple products many years ago.

@Ben Jefferson Treat it like a old horse and take it out and put it out of its misery !! LOL

My wife has an iPad Pro and loves it. She also got the keyboard with it for when she needs to type a lot. She rarely touches her laptop. It's a MacBook Air that she has tried to give it to me but I have an iPad Mini Gen 2 that I will use until it gives up.

Under the hood, Apple IOS is just bash unix (linux) with some slick add ons.
I like slick.... just not paying 800 dollars for it. I can make a LOT of slick for 800 dollars (or more!).
