Scientists have been puzzling over Oumuamua ever since the mysterious space object was observed tumbling past the sun in late 2017. Given its high speed and its unusual trajectory, the reddish, stadium-sized whatever-it-is had clearly come from outside our solar system. But its flattened, elongated shape and the way it accelerated on its way through the solar system set it apart from conventional asteroids and comets.

Pretty wild stuff. First inter stellar object ever observed in out solar system.

Well that's odd. And big. Hope it doesn't hit us.

    This was predicted in 1963.

Hopefully it's the Harbinger come to scourge the unrighteous and purge this world.... Or a cool space rock. Either or.

It's a space rock. Interstellar flotsam. Probably. I find it very interesting that it's trajectory and movements are not predicted by any clockwork model of the galaxy that I was taught. How is it that this hunk of rock came to be moving in this odd direction and speed that's so different from everything around it? What force started this thing on it's journey? And are there more nearby?

At some point, before that spacecraft went careening uncontollably through our solar system, someone said, "Here, hold my beer. Watch this."

It was immediately followed with, "Oh, $hiiiit!"

    or

It was debris from the Death Star.

Who was that pro golfer whose Lear jet cruised awhile, unresponsive, before plummeting when it ran out of fuel? (Sad mystery)

    That, but Aliens.

Crazy, huh? The thing came into our galaxy with not only enough speed to apparently not be influeced by it's gravity at all, but also with enough momentum to apparently accelerate out of the orbits of out planetary system. Yeah, that's odd.

If it is natural, this thing has been blazing through space doing whatever it wants for untold amounts of time. Just zipping it's way through. If it's non natural, it gets even crazier.

I told my daughter that it was alien and was leaving becaue it had not detected any intelligent life. Which is a good bet if it locked onto CNN. :D

sometimes i wonder about "space junk" from other civilizations. this is why:
small islands and atolls in the South Pacific have litter on their shorelines from ships or somewhere.
in my opinion, we would be seeing similar flotsam/jetsam/etc. from someone somewhere.

The universe is fascinating and incomprehensible at the same time. The distances between star systems in our own galaxy alone are staggering to comprehend.

Scientists around the world can theorize as much as they like for the next millions of years and they still won't know what it's all about. Just my two pennies worth.;)

Rumors coming from NSA indicate that Oumuamua has been broadcasting. The code is complex, but my spies tell me that best estimates suggest the following message:

Justice Ginsburg, your ride home is ready.
