Beginning Monday, March 9, all persons entering any Salisbury VA HCS property will be screened for the COVID-19 virus. Please allow extra time to ensure that you arrive at your appointment on time. Veterans and staff at the Salisbury VA Medical Center will enter and exit at the Hedrick entrance from Brenner Avenue.

Not sure what to make of this could just be typical over reaction or could there be more to what they are not saying. Either way it's going to make appointments at the VA more of a pain then what they already are.

overreaction, if you know the VA like I do they'll waste time and money on crap that doesnt need it, and spend nothing on stuff that does, this is just another bullshit step we have to deal with to get to our appointments now, thanks Wake county coronavirus person

Also, my wife's workplace issued a company wide travel ban to places that have had infected people, thing is 90% of the people she works with work from home! It's just getting stupid

No, that's not overreaction. Every hospital does that (entry screening), they should be doing that with the flu, they should be doing that with this as well.

As for staff using separate entrances, yeah, I do think that's stupid.

The kernersville VA has a separate staff entrance already, theyve NEVER done this with the flu as long as I've been going there. They just put the thing with hand sanitizer, tissues and masks by the door. And as far as entry screening, it doesnt happen, well, the check in people at the clinic ask you if you've been to a certain place or whatever and that's it.
In my adventures with the VA, the admin people hate their jobs the most, how do they expect them to do anything extra? I know I'm bitter about the VA and getting off track.

So far this flu season the extent of screening at Novant Salisbury has been a sign stating if you have any cold or flu symptoms to please take a mask and refrain from visiting patients if you are sick with all 4 public entrances open.

Having been on active duty and spending a number of years working for DOD I shudder to think what some GS or SE who has no clue of day to day operations comes up with as a screening procedure. I can see this being similar to an event on base open to the public on the same day some one decides that's a good day to hold a drill and mandate 100% ID checks at the gates a SNAFU for those who have to implement it.

Most hospital registration screenings have built-in cross checks, so if you meet certain criteria, it gets fast tracked to someone who is clinical.

@BU2scwMJL , yeah, the VA are their own special group. There's a reason I never ever ever have gone there for treatment. When is flu season they should be putting out the hand gel and the mask kiosks and all, but they should also be screening. Most hospitals do. Just like when we had the Ebola scare a couple years ago, we had screening regarding travel, certain symptoms, that kind of thing.

I know what they should be doing, but they dont give a shit. Especially the admin types. They just want their paycheck. They do the bare minimum to not get fired and get their money. It's almost useless to have the kiosks I rarely see anyone use one, but I do understand why they are there. I'm just super bitter when it comes to anything VA because they destroyed my body and didn't care.

Your right those screenings occur at registration but not before you've already entered the property. And there's currently nothing stopping you from visiting someone or walking around the hospital if you are sick exposing others to what ever crud you have.

With the VA using the Hendrick entrance off Brenner ave it sounds like the screening will take place at the gate before you even enter the compound and that sounds like a definite definition of a SNAFU.

Better get there 2 hours before your appointment time

I'll give it a try before making judgement. If the virus is as serious as claimed it is high time to take action. I walked into a private hospital last Saturday thinking there may be some form of a check before entering but none was given, so much for health concerns. So far the stupidest request by hospitals I've seen is if you have the symptoms of the virus stay away. Where are you supposed to go?....the veterinarians office!

Almost three months later and plenty of msm brainwashing. Do you feel the response to this virus was warranted or overblown? I think I read somewhere about 50,000 died with H1N1 before Obama ever commented on the issue. Thoughts?
