A few weeks ago I built a custom P80 Glock 17. I used a hand drill and a dremel. All came out well accept for the cuts for the slide rail. I used the hand drill to cut them and it went off track. I was able to make it work but its not the best looking. I shot 50 rounds the first time with only 1 shell getting caught on the eject. The slide will release on its own when I load a magazine. I'm not sure if it still has more to go getting broke in or if it was the magpul 17rd magazines I have. OEM magazines may fix that problem. over all cost was around 630 with 3 mags. The slide is a Rock Slide Glock 17 that I got for 499 with all the parts (all the frame parts with it too). here are some pics and I hope you like it. BTW I'd do it again but i would take my time more.

I recently finished one in the compact (19) size. All the milling and finishing went well. Used files and sandpaper to remove the rail tabs and a dremel, files and sandpaper for the guide rod channel. Assembly was easy. Went with a Brownells slide, a Shadow Systems trigger and completion kit and TruGlo fiber optic sights. The only Glock part is the barrel which I purchased from a fellow forum member. Now here's the rub; it won't cycle for crap. I'm pretty sure the problem is the slide is short stroking and not picking up the next round out of the mag. Funny thing is I can put the slide from my G19 on it and it cycles perfectly. Put the Brownell's slide on the G19 frame and it cycles perfectly. Put the Brownell's slide on the P80 and crap. I just purchased a 15# recoil spring hoping it will solve this but haven't been to the range to test it. I'll update this post when I do.

Problem:
1st time I shot three 17 rds mags with 0 problems. I took it out last week and it felt like it shot 2 rds with one trigger pull. then the trigger would not reset. it would shoot 1 then stop. The slide works fine on a glock frame. trigger reset. I'm thinking the trigger I got was not 100% OEM. I'm going to take it apart and clean it and try again

Update: Too much play on the back rails. Making the trigger not reset. newer p80 frames looks like they have metal rear rail now. anyway I replaced it with an oem gen 3 frame. seems 100% fine now. next stop is to send a few 100 down range.
