Looks like I'll be taking a quick run up to PA, and a USCCA check shows they're pretty 2A friendly and honor our permits.

Anything I should know about? Just carrying a boring sidearm, no AR pistols/rifles/NFA stuff.

Watch out for Philly & eastern seaboard counties. More like NY in attitude. FYI, my info is approx 4 years old; no longer work in that area.

And you have to get there first. Going through DC and MD can be iffy. If you head to the Western portion I wouldn’t sweat it.

Yep take 81 to I 64,77 or 70 depending on just where you’re going. That whole area is 2A friendly.

Philly has to honor WVa CC permits, I’m not sure if NC has reciprocal agreement with Pa or not.

I was stopped by a Philly cop a number of years ago and handed him my WVa DL and CCW at the same time. He commented “Another WVa hillbilly “. My answer was no just another freedom loving American citizen.

he actually let me go it’s just a warning.

If Eastern PA and ANY chance of going thorough NJ better to leave it all at home. Definitely do not get caught in NJ with hollow points.

Nope, as far away from the shithole side as possible. It's an optional trip, so I wouldn't go if I had to go anywhere near the east side.

Yep,
Even LEO under Hr218/LEOSA are not exempt from this retarded nonsense.
Avoid newjesery at all costs.
They even made a southpark episode about people from nj and why they are all, without exception, absolute douche canoes

Western side, almost Ohio. Looks like the best way up is via WV.
I was born and raised in Western Pennsyltucky. I still visit a few times a year. It is quite 2A friendly. Although it is a little heavy with Fudds, but improving. The Pennsylvania State Police is the main LEO for many of the rural counties and are usually good to interact with. Last time I checked there was no duty to inform if stopped like in NC. Allegheny County within Pittsburgh city limits might be the only place an issue could arise due to local BS ordinance and City cops.

Driving up 77/79 through Virginia and West Virginia is probably your best route. Make sure to take Route 19 through Summerville and see the New River Gorge. It also minimizes your cost of using the WV Turnpike.

So each city/county gets to pile on it's own laws? That sucks. I don't plan on stopping anywhere near Pittsburgh.

I had google maps set to avoid tolls, hopefully its' aware of all these.

In addition the the earlier posts…

concealed carry only in the cities. Open carry isn’t permitted.

Used to be that any place selling alcohol was off limits for carry. Check this.

since it’s just a visit, I won’t go into the UBC rule for pistols. It’s stupid but on their books.

No not legally, but they aspire to be just like other Big Dem cities. I-79 goes through Allegheny county but not through Pittsburgh City limits so you will be fine.

FYI, it's now only $4.75 (up from $2.40) for the usage of the WV Turnpike to get to Exit 48 (Rt 19N). Watch for all the speed changes on R19 ESPESCIALLY at Summersville where it's 50mph.

About the only thing that could get you into "real" trouble is bad mouthing the Steelers (pronounced stillers) to the locals. Yinz is the equivalent of Y'all and Western Pa does share a lot of common phrases from Pittsburghese:
