Panic ammo buying?

Component prices are skyrocketing right now. My price for brass alone has jumped $400 a drum. Primers, haha, better find a honey hole.

Ill be back up and running this week. Website will have live inventory by late this week

Ouch. Is there anything we need to be on the lookout for you?

I could only imagine. I bet if you had more machines and materials the demand right now could have you running 24/7 for the foreseeable future.

Might be a good time to put some brass 9mm molds up for sale.

Anyone have a good line on 6.5 grendel? I picked up an upper last year and really should have gotten more ammo than what I have on hand. I know.. to little to late and I am stuck with what I got.

There are a lot of dead people that would argue with that statement.

There are far, far more people alive who have been shot with 9mm ball and can argue about it and that is the problem. There is a reason why we use JHP in our defensive guns. They are better at stopping humans from continuing to fight. In a gun fight you want to stop the threat quickly. So if you want to stock pile ammo because you think some war is coming and you may have to fight, It would make sense to stock pile your carry ammo. Buying the crappiest type of human stopping boolits for end of the world scenario seems... dumb. But if it makes you feel better to have them the go for it. Don't be surprised if you hit them and they keep shooting at you. They may die after 10 minutes or so but... you may be dead too.

See, the real issue is that those shot and killed with 45-cal go to Circle III of the Inferno with the gluttonous (bigger is better); whereas those shot and killed with 9-mm go to Circle VII, Ring 3 of the Inferno with the blasphemers (for their presumption in thinking that they are co-equal with 45-cal).

Where do those go who were sent by 12 gauge 00 buck? :D

A little into Circle VII, a little into Circle III, some fleshy bits into Circle X, bone fragments into Circle V, and some brain matter onto the outer wall.

There are two schools of thought on this:

(i) directly to glory for the honor of being destroyed by "the" self-defense weapon of choice or
(ii) Circle VIII Bolgia 5 since a shotgun loaded with 00 buckshot might be analogous to the ending of Canto XXI "Which he with sound obscene triumphant gave."

Circle X?
I’m just making crap up. I have no idea. Figured if there were Circles III and VII, maybe there was an X.

Or maybe the X signifies the bullseye.

Just know he’s spread all over. :p

ETA: I see it maxed at IX...my bad.

A reading assignment for the Covid-19 season! The Sayers translation is poetic and more of a challenge to read than a more prosaic one, perhaps, but her commentary is quite good.

I bought some from Outdoor Limited a few months back. I have a bolt action so it may not a great comparison, but the Russian Wolf stuff shoots pretty good for the price. I wouldn’t be afraid to load up on that if it was all I could find.

Yay! Its good to know that even in the middle of a global pandemic we can still sit down and argue about which bullet feels better to be shot with.
Too bad there's not a "degree of LIKE" button here!
This would get 5 stars, both for truth and for sarcastic funny-ness. thanks!

I went on an ammo and handgun hunt with my sister last weekend, only ammo we didn't find in abundance was 9mm and 5.56/223.
We stopped at Academy they were basically cleaned out of pistol ammo, of all calibers, and the 5.56/223 was being held behind the counter, and there was s three box limit per visit.
My sister picked up a good bit of .380, I bought nada, I've got a good bit put away and refuse to add to the stupid......

Before Walmart caved in and quit selling handgun ammo I use to buy a couple of boxes of ammo each week and a few bricks of 22 when I had extra cash. . Started all of this just before odumbo took office . So I've built up a good supply in the last 12 or 13 years.I don't shoot nearly as much as I use to do I should have enough to last me a lifetime. I will still buy ammo if I get a deal but there are really no deals anymore. I use to think $249 per 1000 rounds of 223 plus 10 pmags with free shipping was a deal. I wish I had bought 10 more of those deals .I would be rich today:rolleyes:

My reply is two words. Shot Placement

Last week I bought CCI Mini ‘mags at the local Academy Sports for $7.99/100. Grabbed 300. And some 45 ACP Winchester since it was there.

This week the CCI was $8.99/100. But the Hornady Black 6.5 Grendel that was $21.99/20 is now $19.99/20. So this week I bought a little Grendel.

At least the Dr Pepper in the coolers is still consistently over priced. I know what I’m getting there.

I don't get this panic buying. I went to order some 9mm FMJ bullets (not ammo) and two places I looked at were out. Like TP being out makes no sense to me either.

It's like with any panic, people panic because others are...it spreads. I havent ordered ammo for myself in a few months personally, but I know many people here (whether they would admit it or not) started looking for deals once word got out things were getting scarce. Its just the nature of things. Heck, I dont need TP, but I still check the shelves when I am there to see if any has come in.

Fuquay Gun has it stacked up again on pallets.
‘taint cheap, but I expect they had to pay a premium to the distributors this last go around.

Has to laugh about the TP. That was me in the store the other day. Do not need any, but I told my wife I am going to check the isle I am curious. They had one pkg left and some women latterly ran over and grabbed it and she was proud of it. I just stood there and laughed out loud at her. She gave me that look! I laughed harder.

I can see ammo maybe being hard to get, but normally you can get bullets quite easily for reloading. Oh well, I have plenty of LRN to reload.
