As the title states, Im looking for some recommendations on some britches.

I saw some 5.11 pants that looked cool...EXCEPT all the crap all over them.
I dont want cargos, I dont need a bunch of pockets, just the standard, but I like the lightweight, ripstop material that would probably be good (please, correct me if wrong) for warmer weather.

I, also, dont want zip-off at the knees

I looked at some Columbia pants, as well as the 5.11, at Academy the other night (WS needs to hurry up and open, by the way), but I didnt like the velcro on the back pockets

Im not wanting super baggy, but a standard cut would be fine.

I exclusively wear Kuhl. The Kuhl Free Rydr is my favorite and if you don’t want “slim”, the regular Rydr is for you. I also like the Disruptr jeans. Not really jeans but super comfortable.

Kuhl cuts their pants with anatomy in mind. They are difficult to fold with all the little gussets but I can easily move around in them without always having to pull my pants back up. They are also nearly indestructible so don’t be too turned off by the price. I buy mine on eBay.

You mention slim in the first line - do they have a slim line?
I'll look up their stuff in a few, thanks dude!

Re Academy in WS... Opens next weekend. First 150 people in the door get gift card for $20-$500 if I remember right. A friend got a 20% off coupon in the mail yesterday. Haven't gotten one myself, not yet anyways.

Crap, I'll be down in Salisbury getting trained to be a shotgun instructor that weekend.
But good that they'll be open soon!

Kuhl or Exofficio are my recommendations. Both have lines for everyone. Neither is cheap, but the quality is worth it.

The ones with “Free” in the name are slim. That’s what I get. Not a super intuitive nomenclature... they used to be called “Lean” and that made way more sense.

The Rydr model is tough and almost canvasy. Not lightweight.

Oh, also, Kuhl uses a flat button design. Nice for no added bulk in front. Comfy too

I love my Duluth Firehose Flex pants. They make them in a few different variations. Cargo, carpenter, no extra pockets. I’ve got a pair of their lightweight/wicking ones on the way. A little pricey but once you experience the quality, you’ll know why.

Love their boxer briefs, and have one of their heavy canvas blazers. Good stuff!

All the Duluth stuff is really good quality and tends to have nifty features. LAPG tends to have sales on the 5.11 stuff. Their own line is solid as well though not really slim.

I'll have to check out Kuhl.

I wear these, they have one pocket thats mid thigh, just big enough to hold a phone. The fabric lets water run off in case you get caught and are still breathable. The waist is stretchy too

Just got a pair of those a couple weeks back. Really diggin' them so far. I bought them at the 5.11 store on South Blvd, noticed a familiar business card back by the water fountain.;)

If you sign up for their email list they often send out coupons. Actually got an email yesterday about a sidewalk sale this weekend.

Granted I have not bought anything Kuhl ;) since 2011, but has their quality improved significantly since then? I haven't bought any of their products since due to a pair of paints and a pair of shorts that didn't hold up well at all.

Mine are bulletproof. Almost carhart level tough.

Kuhl is just about all I wear anymore.
They got all seasons covered, too.

I swear the kontra air pants are cooler than shorts in the thick heat.

So we took an anonymous, private poll. Of 34 members that responded, 97% say yes, you should wear pants. Go commando if that's how you roll, just wear some pants.

Send funds PP P&F and we'll out the one that voted no. You probably won't be surprised.

I like the Ascend brand, they are rip stop but I don't know how they compare to the Duluth stuff, but I do like them more than the LAPG pants. Bought at BPS for about $40

I've been wearing mostly LA Police Gear pants for years. They hold up well, comfortable, and a good deal for the $$. Grandsons who are a lot tougher on cloths than I am wear them most of the time.

Their LAPG label polo shirts are also good, and the collar still lays flat. Can't say the for the 511's I have.
Only problem with LAPG pants is the zipper goes before the pants wear out.

bottom line: thrift stores. Goodwill, PTA, etc....$3 a pair.
of course, 50% of those i buy end up not being what i want, so...
now the price is $6 a pair. i have spent +$50 to get 6 pairs that i really like.
yes, i try them on in the store, but as you know, daily wear reveals the flaws.

tomorrow morning, i will do Adopt-A-Highway and will wear a $3 pair i don't like.
i wouldn't even "donate" it back. it's that bad. but...i will wear them and trash them.

Walmart has a Wrangler cargo made with the rip stop material, $22/pair. I wear them to work 90% of the time as I never know when they will get stained/ruined. My nicer pants are 5.11 and Truspec, both ripstop.

Im not paying you to tell me it was @Chdamn

For warm weather go with Tru-Spec Ascent. Much lighter than their standard 24/7 pants, and durable. The comfort is amazing.

I have a pair of Kuhl’s that I love, but they are pretty pricey. My favorite pants are from Eddie Bauer, I have several pair and they have held up very well. They can be pricey too, but if you go to an outlet, you can get them pretty cheap. I usually get this style.

I’m with you. I bought 3 pair of Eddie Bauer in Destin, Florida of this or similar. They have a small percentage of spandex and let you move and bend easily. Dang best pant ever. I called back and got inventory counts at other stores and mailed ordered 8 more pair. Very pricey but at outlets can be had for 40% or more off the $70.
