I recently found out that I show I liked, Seal Team, had moved to a new platform, Paramount Plus. I subscribed to the initial free offer. I started watching new episodes of the show. I noticed that now since it is a streaming service and not network television the standards and practices are different for what is allowable.
Basically it’s the exact same show, same characters and time/storylines. However, they have turned up the violence, sex, and language. F-Bombs on a show I’m used to seeing on network TV with their 1950’s level of censorship. I’m not arguing for or against this, simply stating it for information. Actually the dialogue seemed pretty appropriate for that character under those intense circumstances, or other encounters of daring do, and chivalrous rescues that end in, or begin an episode with an involving tryst as a way to blow off steam for two characters both masters of their crafts who deeply respect each other and also find each other deeply attractive naked. Perhaps I was caught off guard by how that show, and likely others could be altered in efforts to attract more views. What if I were watching something with my nieces and nephews?
You be the judge. Just saying things have been changed, and perhaps you should be aware of it.

I noticed the same. I did the exact same thing with the free trial to watch the second season of Evil.

Noticed the same change in language standards.

Just watched a graphic depiction of a NarCan assisted resuscitation of an overdosing transient veteran. Seemed pretty realistic and well done, just also very graphic.

For what seal team is I feel like the language and etc seems more realistic in general. I'm not sure I would let my son watch it before the change over. Definatly not now. But I personally enjoy the show a little more now. Haven't had time to catch up on evil yet.
But mayor of Kingstown though. Talk about sex language and violence. That show has it all.

Guess I will have to check that one out. I subscribed to the channel for a year so that we could watch all of Star Trek Discovery (and hoping for a second season of Picard) which my wife likes too. I don't know if I will renew it after the year expires, but for now, it has been money well spent in terms of dollars per hour of entertainment.

I do understand what you are saying about streaming services not being bound by the mores of the 50s. I learned that one real quick watching a later in the season episode for Altered Carbon on Netflix - and I mean much more than a brief boob scene or something. Which is why I am careful of what I watch at work during lunch, even with headphones on.

Posted in the Seal Team thread, but gonna move it here. (FYI to @Spartan01 in case you got the notice I quoted you in the other thread).

Does Paramount+ release shows one at a time, like D+, Apple+ and HBOMax? Or the whole season like Netflix?

We watched the first four (I think?) episodes of Seal Team this season before they moved it to P+. I’m holding out to when all of this season plus the first seasons of 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown are available. Then binge all three shows in a month.

I got paramount plus so i could watch my blue bloods, but me and the wife watch one or other two shows since we have it.

The dang streaming srevice thing just makes me mad. Not only does it not work well with DSL internet, but everyone and their brother has one so you end up paying for 3-6 different ones just to watch 2-3 shows on each. Plus having DIRECTV for everything else.... Costing to much to watch tv. I may just wait till they all come out on dvd

We have DSL and use Netflix and D+ without issue for the most part. Both have the download feature, so if I'm trying to watch something and things get skitchy, download then watch.
And Roku, almost forgot about that.
