im looking to buy a pelican bass raider and wondering if anyone here has used one on larger lakes like belews or norman?

ive only been on the water in larger bass boats and pontoon boats and im curious if staying close to the bank on a lake like belews might work to avoid dealing with wakes from larger boats etc.

i figure salem lake would probably be fine for one of these, but not sure where else would be a good place to take one (last i checked kville lake doesnt allow personal boat launches only their rental boats are allowed)

Stay off any body of water that may have "wake boats" in use. They throw such a HUGE wake (by design) that even when the wake hits the shoreline is could be as high as 3'.
I can't believe there hasn't been a push to outlaw these type crafts because of the shoreline damage they are causing.

I would think if you go early morning or late evening you should be ok. Also if you can get a boat like that up in creeks or coves you should be fine. I use to put my 13.5 v hull jon boat in the canoe launch on Jordan lake to stay away from big boats and have easier access to smaller coves they couldn't get in. Also with something like that check electric only or kayak and canoe areas. I fish from a kayak now and look for places big boats can't go so they won't be a bother for me. I like lake macintosh in Burlington. It has a large electric only area and a boat like that would be great for it.

Instead of that bass hunter you should consider a kayak.

I have one of these I bought for duck hunting, but have been using my kayak instead. They're great on water that is 'no wake' or doesn't allow larger boats.

If you're interested in one, I'll make you a real deal on mine, might even toss in the barely-used trolling motor.

I had a 10 ft bass tender that I used on a Eagle Lake in PA when I lived up north. It was a electric motor only lake though so it worked well. I don't think I would go anywhere near Lake Norman with it though after seeing some of the boats flying out there.

How old is the little girl. My girlfriend has a 6 year old boy. We bought him one of the 6ft kid kayaks and take him to the canoe launch at Jordan or to small city lakes. He isn't very interested in fishing usually but it's stable enough he can turn around and dangle his feet in the water and he's happy. If the little girl is worried because they haven't used a kayak before there are a lot of places that rent them or I'm sure someone would let you try one out.

old enough not to be so scared - lol. shes 15 and not so little anymore.

i think its more of a claustrophia thing more than anything. shes feels a little too confined having to sit constantly in a kayak or canoe - has never liked it the times shes tried. (didnt help that the canoe was overloaded with small kids either.)

I had a 10ft pelican with boat seats. 2 adults and a child could sit and fish comfortably in it facing away from each other. I took it out on Lake Tillery during the winter and a 3.5HP Nissan outboard pushed it quite well ;)

Did you reinforce the transom or did it handle that motor without flexing
