I don't know about everyone else but I'm getting sick and tired of this censoring BS. Deleting threads, preferential treatment, high and mighty attitude.

This is borderline as bad as the Canadian forum censoring all things that they don't like.

At this point I will not be renewing my membership next year. I will not be paying to have my content deleted wondering where a member went because the admins are afraid of the politics.

To prove me point this will probably be deleted.

This is a family friendly forum. There is a place for your lewd discussion about another forum members wife boobs….if that is what you feel like you need to discuss on a gun forum. Most everyone else would see it as crass and the beginnings of an argument with another member. Either way, this isn't your house. You don't like the " family friendly" atmosphere, there are other places to go. I bet you don't stand up in church and say "F*** Yeah! Great Sermon!" and then turn around and tell the congregation looking at you that they are trying to censor you…. Or talk about some other womans boobs while with your wife at the grocery store, and when she looks at you bad, you tell her she is censoring you!

Why do you think you can come on this forum, that is owned by a group of people looking to perpetuate responsible gun ownership and a place for like minded people and just say whatever you want to?

At this moment, there are 14, 242 active "Discussions" ….. 251,443 messages out of 1,787 members. I will assure you that there has been less than 50 messages deleted for content. 50….out of 251,443. Do the math. Censorship isn't the issue here. Its members who disrespect the rules, and the common general courtesy of others that don't want to see trash talk, instigators, and garbage on their gun forum.

Less that 10 people have been booted off this forum since its inception. Out of 1800 members. I don't think the staff is the issue. Its the 1% of the population that cause 99% of the problems on this site.

Read the rules. Don't be crass. You are known by the company you keep.
 
I thought I saw Burt and the guy with the booby wife, forgot his name, over in Canada talking about how it's anti-gay and pro nazi over here and that there is an exodus, I don't see it.

I do think that the place has been under moderated, that we have too many folks, including some old and well known members, that can't act like responsible adults without detailed rules. It started off as a rebellion, maybe it's maturing into something sustainable. I hope so.

We seem to have a fair number of members who just poke poke poke poke away and when they get slapped down, go running off wailing about being mistreated. Childish.

I'm a pretty easy going guy, but if some of these folks were sitting on my porch, I'd toss 'em out and let them know they're not welcome to return.

As a non-moderating member here, I'd like to point out something:

This site has rules. And, quite honestly, I think they're pretty simple and easy to follow. But if I had to sum up the behavioral expectations, I'd say the tenet behind "The Golden Rule" is it. Really...it's that simple.

To be a member here implies one has read and agreed to those rules. That really means one is actually honor bound to abide by them. It also means one is honor bound to own up to their errors when it's pointed out to them.

It's not that hard. I've had it pointed out to me before when I've crossed the line on some sites. Own up, move on, and do better.

This site has areas in which less "family friendly" exchanges may be made. Even so, there are boundaries/limitations there as well. It's just not that difficult.

It is not "censorship" to hold people to the rules here.

If those rules are not acceptable to any individual, my only advice is to move somewhere else more suitable to one's tastes/behaviors. There's no sense in staying somewhere one does not like or agree with the rules.

I dont see how its pro-nazi here at all, but I could see how some might find it offensive that certain members toss anti-gay words around with little-to-no consequence.
Mass exodus? Nah, I dont see it either.
But whatever.

There are 37 sections of this forum that are " family freindly" and one section where NSFW material can be posted. It is not a " porn section" The basement has NSFW material in it and that is to allow members to feel free to browse 99% of the site at work and not have to worry about getting into issue with questionable material.

If you look at the " funny, wtf, memes and gif" thread, it has over 200,000 hits. The most of any forum thread on the entire site. And it's topic has nothing to do with nudity or porn, as you so eloquently named it. Its "instagatory" as I mentioned to the OP in my intial post. Exactly my point.

My point is, apparently the basement is a fine addition to members who like the more risqué or edgy material. It clearly shows that your " porn" comment is totally incorrect and worthless.

Have you asked for entrance into the Basement? Apparently not, since you feel it's a " porn section"

So don't feel as it's OK to mince my words up and feel as you need to be a social justice warrior. I made myself clear, and my above statement is accurate.

I know someone posted asking about where he was, as, it appears, his account is totally gone (not just banned, but deleted).
I guess that thread got deleted? I dont know, I havent looked for it.

I'll agree that a lot of stuff slides here, dont see a ton of censorship. Especially considering what I said last night about choice words for homosexuals being tossed around by one or two and letting it slide.

ETA: Ive had some things deleted. I'm no where near mad about it. As soon as it was deleted I thought wtf? Then realized oh I used the f bomb or something. Im ok with it. I have to remember it doesn't auto censor out my bad words like NCGO. I'd rather be here so I'm here.

Funny how one person CONTINUOUSLY breaking the rules and then whining when they get their hand slapped can cause so much drama. I'm about sick of it myself.
 
When the SHTF over at the old place, I made the analogy to our forum being like a dive bar- not to pretty, a bit rough around the edges, comfortable as a good pair of boots, and a place I want to hang out and relax.

But even dive bars have lines you don't cross- no grabbing the butt of the waitstaff, don't take a swing at folks, and be ready to eat crow if you mouth-off when drunk. And those lines are set buy the owners. It may not be a hard line- it might move a bit one way or the other at times. But if the bouncer tells you he is putting you in a cab and sending you home to sleep it off, you best just say "Yes and Thank You, Sir" if you want to come back to the bar tomorrow.

As for the "NSFW" section- to me it is no different than the "Church" section or the ".gov" section: If you don't want to see it, don't go in it!

And guess what?? This is not the place for everyone. If you have strong leanings or beliefs one way or another, and can't agree to let others disagree, maybe you need to find or start your on website where everyone is just like you.
