PetSmart Dog attack

Some locations do grooming and some do training sessions in the store. Kind of weird to show up without your dog.
Since when does Lowes or Walmart or Kroger groom or train animals?
PetSmart is one thing but it is spilling over into other areas. People that think dogs or cats or cows or hogs are human and should be treated as such have their own set of problems.

My bad I thought you were talking about Petsmart... carry on. Yeah I get what you're saying about stores in general.
My dogs are Family. Not humans, but not livestock either.

This is why it’s stupid to take animals to a store. I don’t give two damns that it’s a pet store. It’s become like a badge of honor or something to walk around with your dumb pet at those stores.
Petsmart offers grooming, vet, and training clinics. That said I agree that taking a dog into a store 99% of the time is asinine.
Back to the OP. I would have killed the pit without a second thought.

Because the child might not be able to be left home.

And just because a kid is screaming does not make them a brat. There are a lot of other reasons for their actions. Some may have sensory disorders or other things going on.

Animals have a place and it’s not in line at the lumber store.

Too hot in the car, don’t put them in there to begin with.

I couldn't care less why somebody is screaming, I shouldn't have to hear it. My dog is property, not a human, but its company is preferable to about 95% of the humans I meet.
And it doesn't look like mine or yours opinion means jack when it comes to policy.

MY dog IS my family, we don't have kids. With that said, the dog is certified (has been since training) and will go with me wherever and whenever I choose. She won't even look at you if you don't do something to attract her attention. She walks at heel anytime I have her on leash and I'll tell you quickly I don't want her messed with, no petting!!!
I have had the ECU in both vehicles re-programmed so I can leave the vehicle running and still be able to lock the doors so she has heat in the winter and AC in the summer if I chose to leave her. Unless you SEE her you'll never know she's anywhere around.

What business of someone else's is why I have a dog with me? Let the property owner decide if he wants them there and let the law provide harsh penalties if it harms another person. Otherwise, I don't care whether you think I'm a moron for having my dog with me.

My parent's dog while I was in college was a rescue who had been abused. It took a lot of socialization for him to be able to do normal dog things like going to the vet without cowering in fear. Places like Lowes and the gun store helped acclimate him to the world.

That's a big thing I do once a puppy is old enough to be housebroken and have a good attention span because it allows me to teach them to ignore people. It makes them better dogs.

If you think its dumb, good for you. But don't call for the law to punish the 99 based on the stupidity of the 1.

You see dogs in European restaurants all the time, especially in Germany. Very well behaved, obviously well trained & nobody cares. Even saw a waiter put a water dish under the table for a family's dog.

Point being, if yer dog's well trained & you can handle them in public, go for it. Hell, I like dogs way more than I like most people. But... if yer dog isn't well trained &/or you can't keep them under control while in public, leave their asses at home.

Closer to home than Germany but in Colorado dogs are welcome in restaurants, bars and just about anywhere else. The people in those parts have mainly working type dogs and sometimes things get a little rowdy but for the most part it's cool to waltz into a bar and see 2 or 3 dogs lying on the floor at the owners feet....
Some of the tourons are a little put out but as I heard a barmaid say once, "they were here first".....

And you wonder why the only one that wants to hang out with you is the dog. :p

Dog Bar in NODA. My dog would not like it...but it’s entertaining to watch from the street. It’s a bar where dogs are welcome.
