Good morning everyone. In the past staff has tried to sway the use of phone numbers and other personal information in BST ads for obvious reasons. The most obvious was to keep members from receiving unwanted content from other folks.

From here forward, BST ads that include phone numbers or emails(or any other personal information), will be removed from view. It’s perfectly fine for you to exchange any info you want with another member. But please, do it in private, via PM. Our Geeks are making a change or two in the visibility of the bst section so it’s not visible in google searches. In the past this was the case, and anyone in a google search can get your personal phone number or email if it’s visible in your public BST ad.

Occasionally I notice phone numbers pop up in the profile posts section. That wall of posts shows up for me at the bottom of “What’s new” on my ipad.

It seems like most posts there are by people that meant to send a private message. I’ve seen addresses, phone numbers, meeting times, etc. I try to report them when I see them.

Is there any reason to keep that section?

Agreed. I never understood the reason for profile posts on discussion forums but guess it's similar to posting on someone's Facebook wall (which I've never done, nor had done to me). I have them turned off in Settings (under Privacy) and don't view the profile posts section of the What's New page, so don't have to see them.

I noticed some of the photos I copied while logged into my yahoo email would have my email address in the name of the file. I rename the file before uploading the photos.

I actually just did that on another board this week (but not guns or gunz)
But it's an older style board that doesnt have PMs like this place
 
Just used the "Google Search" button that's built into the search functionality with [charlotte's area code]- , and it still shows numbers in a google search with bst results, thought y'all should know.

Damn. Now I can't send unsuspecting BST only users unsolicited pics of my freshly shaven nards in their little humpty dumpty outfit.
