Got it for 100.00 . Its dirty, but it will clean up. Has a cheapo Simmons scope. Never owned a .22mag. Anyone have one of these? Trigger is ATROCIOUS. That will need some work.

I've got a 782 I bought from a forum member ( wait, that was back at the other place ) some years back. Put a cheap 4X scope on it, seems it's always one that makes it to the range with whatever else I take. I'm thinking it deserves a better scope.

I hope this thing shoots well. Saw mostly good reviews a few nutty ones. Id like to find a nice aftermarket pepper laminate stock to sit it in.

pictures?

did it really happen? ;)
I'll have to get some. It happened late yesterday afternoon. Just time enough to lean it in the closet. Lol. Plus, she's a dirty birdy.

Anyone put a rifle basix trigger on one?

I did some sort of internet trigger improvement job on mine, don't really remember the details, maybe something with the spring. It helped. But as I get older ( and hopefully wiser ) I am seeing the wisdom in spending the money on the proper hardware.

I had a Marlin 22mag take down, kind of like the magnum version of the Papoose. I was always impressed with its accuracy. I think the Marlin Micro-Groove rifling they used on their rimfires really worked well.

I want a lever gun project to put a super nice stock on. One of those projects that end up being more than the gun is worth. 600.00 slab of wood on a 300.00 rifle. :)

Marlin 25MB

Mine was unfired when I bought it this past year.

Bic pen spring swap? What I did on a model 25....

Bunch of reading to get through there.

Basically you replace the trigger spring with a spring from a "clicky" pen. There is an exact model pen typically referenced. If I remember correctly though I found a different pen spring to work after trying several.

If you have a drawer full of pens, a Marlin bolt action and about 30 mins time you can experiment. Just find a spring of the correct diameter and cut the pen spring to the same length as your trigger spring.

I had a Marlin 783 for about 20 yrs that was a tack driver and game getter. It wore a Simmons 4x . Need another one. Suggest a good scope and a good cleaning.

I got my Dad's 783 with when he passed away. He had it for years and didn't put more than a box of cartridges through it. It leaned in the corner of his bedroom loaded and ready to repel boarders. I still have it and put a cheapo 4x scope on it. Just had it to the range last week and did some nice shooting with it at 100 yds.

Did a disassembly, and cleaned /polished the bolt. She is smooth now. Only deficiency is the trigger as we discussed. I finally got to shoot it yesterday. Its a soft shooter, really accurate. scope is pretty much spot on, which surprised me. Nice little rifle. Not sure what it will do in the stable but its nice.
