This blood drive is open to anyone. Please come donate.

Please come by the Pittsboro VFW on Saturday, between 10:30am and 2:30pm, to donate blood. We will have a blood bus parked in front of the building.

Not only does the blood go to help people in need, but the VFW post will also get a donation from the Blood Connection. We need the money to continue helping veterans in Chatham County.

Just out of curiosity do you know how they will screen for rona antibodies. I am local and wouldn’t mind donating and could probably get my wife to as well.

I have no idea, but I did talk to the Blood Connection manager who is coordinating the event at our post.

He said every person who donated will be notified whether or not there are antibodies in their system. Then they'll know if they have already had covid or not. I didn't ask about the details.

But, it would be nice to find out if I've already had it and didn't know it.

I'll be there, with my wife, donating blood on Saturday.

I’m out of town until Friday or Saturday. If we travel Friday, I’ll drive down. Haven’t donated any blood since the start of all this COVID, trying to keep my immune system at its peak. I guess I’m willing to risk it now.
 
You guys get $20 per donation? Dang!

You guys might try to coordinate dates with the Six Shooter show and Red Cross to have it fall on the same Saturday (December is in a few months) as a show. Free show admission for blood donors ... the Ag center is just a few blocks west of you guys on West St/Bus64.
 
This morning, I got an email from Blood Connection that said every person who donated blood tomorrow will receive a Visa gift card with $20 on it!

I'm offended
This is nothing by a bunch of white people attempting to get rid of their white guilt by LITERALLY spreading their whiteness to people who they think can't live without their help.

Just kidding folks. I used to work for red cross in one of the testing labs and I'm in plasma collection now. We were giving away everything we could to get people in our doors in the early stages of corona and I've read that whole blood donations took a similar hit.
Keep up the good work folks who meet the donation criteria!
