Ok, I'm aware that as gun guys we're pretty loose and will do just about anything.
But when you go to the range, go shopping, and maybe without even thinking about it..what do you naturally gravitate towards most often?

It depends on what I'm buying for. If it's for hunting I always gravitate towards the pump action rifles. I grew up around them and thought they were just plain awesome. I own a Browning BPR in 30-06 that has slain a ton of deer.

Semi ( aka the AR). I use to only buy bolt actions but after being bitten by the AR bug I have found there's not much I can't do with one. A ton of calibers and a ton of mods.

I love my bolt actions but I only have 3 now....

Lever action. Bottom feeders are just a passing fad, like fidget spinners and skinny jeans.

I love me some pump action center-fire!
A buddy has a pump .357mag that I've been trying to talk him out of for years.

My favorites are bolt actions.

Well, if money were no object I'd own some of all of them!
But it is an issue, so an AR15 does everything I need a rifle to do. And, my SBR AR handles everything else.

Only bolt gun I own is a .410 shotgun!

Muzzle loaders. You can customize every shot. I also love lever guns. Break barrles are also very nice but usally to pricey for me.

Is the BPR on a dedicated rifle frame? I prefer a pump shotgun but have owned exactly one pump rifle and despised it. My folks gave me a Remington 7600 .270 for my first deer rifle and the felt recoil was much worse that any rifle I have shot to date. It was also prone to jamming. From what I gather this is typical due to them being built on a 870 frame. To this day I have avoided owning a .270 due to that rifle. FWIW it was the first gun I ever traded off.

Hmmm, that is odd. I have to admit I know nothing of the Remington 7600. The BPR is a dedicated rifle as far as I know. And they were what all the farmers I grew up with shot. I chose it mainly for nostalgia but also because it never jams.

If you think the felt recoil of the 270 is bad try a 30-06 lol. But felt recoil of any gun that is manually cycled (lever, pump or bolt) is always going to be higher than a semi auto.

Honestly I think 99% my issues with the recoil/jamming was that the rifle was way to long for a husky 11 yer old with short arms. I have a .300 Win Mag that seems like a kitten to shoot compared to that damn .270. When I traded it for a .243 I thought I had gone to heaven. Funny how stuff like that sticks with you.

Yeah, my dad had a Remington semi auto 30-06. I begged him and begged him to let me shoot it when I was 8. He finally relented and told me it was going to bruise the hell out of me. He helped me prop it against the tree and put one round in it. Knocked me over backwards. He caught the rifle and watched me tumble. "Tried to tell your dumb ass".

I didn't care, I was grinning too much. First rifle I bought when I got out of the corps was that BPR in the caliber that kicked me like a mule.

As someone who owns mostly semi-auto (and most of those are ARs in different calibers) I answered "Lever Action".

When I go into a gun store anymore, I walk past the ARs. I have no desire to buy one off the rack, so I don't even look at them. I will build (or assemble) my own. Other semi-autos, especially wood stocks, will get some attention from me, as will bolt actions occasionally. But what really catches my eye are the lever action guns. So far I only have two, one in 30-30 and one in 357mag. There will be more. :)

Wow, that's difficult to answer. The only way I could answer would be this way...

Every Day Romantic: Lever
Social Interaction: Semi

Wish I could pick up to two choices.

I just can't do it! I can't choose. It's like choosing Blonde over Brunette, Raven over Redhead. I love'em all, in their own way.
My "first" was a bolt action. She wasn't cheap & flashy. She was sweet and gentle, kinda slow, and she'll always hold a special place in my heart.
Then I found out she had an older cousin (that Mossberg girl) who rumor had it was "easy to pump". She was, and before long we were making noise all over the county.
But, it turns out she was kinda loose with her morals, and made too much noise when there were bucks nearby. She had to go.
I then became attracted to this long, lean baby who had curves in all the right places. She was born in '94, but looked like nobody had ever ridden her.
She held her sexiness in a refined manner, skin as smooth as oiled walnut, eyes that flashed like polished brass! She was a pure-bred racehorse! What a ride!
But, alas she was too high-maintenance, and needed a richer owner. So she left and took all my bullets and reloading press with her.
After a while, I got that itchy trigger finger feeling and went back to the local watering hole.
To my surprise there was a whole group of single gals hanging out, wearing tight black outfits and looking tough! And Man-Oh-Man are they ever fun to run around with!
They party night and day, rain or shine, and have no problem "Gettin' Dirty". It's more fun than I've had in years.

So, NO! ... I refuse to choose just one!
