Port of Seattle Police Officer and Special Forces Veteran Greg Anderson made an inspirational video reminding police officers they do not have unlimited powers.

“I have seen officers around the country enforcing tyrannical orders; I was hoping it was a minority of officers, anymore, I am not so sure …” began Officer Anderson’s video. “We do not get to violate someone’s Constitutional Rights …”

I watched his follow up video on MrGunsandGear. Basically, once the IG video got traction, his brass changed their tune from “cool video” to “we’re requiring you to take it down”. He refused and is now on admin leave, seemingly getting fired any day now.

Last night his gofundme was up to $145k.

In years past the officer on the street was given levity to enforce the law or not but through numerous actions by the civil rights advocates a robot is all any LEO agency dreams about this day and time. This officer is correct but the leaders of the agency know any action taken today by an officer of this man's demeanor will be a open invitation to civil unrest and an emptying of the treasury through one law suit after another. One can hope the officer can gather enough traction to win the next mayor's election and have those that lack the character to stand with liberty removed from office.

Even If they let him stay now, he is Done there. His career there is Over. Each person that contacted him blamed it on "they". Another shithole located.

That's right. he's a marked man now. If I was him, I'd start swinging elbows and punching throats. You get rid of me? That's going to be an expensive lawsuit.

I respect his fortitude to make such a video. The *gotcha* point where the rules may screw him is making it presumably on duty, or a least in department garb. They can (and should) have authority over officers using the department name (directly or indirectly) to spread messages. In this "great" land where speech is relatively free, you have to take the good with the bad--so when his fellow muslim socialist officer posts a video about something we don't like, using the department as a backdrop and costume, well...

Had it been done from his house, or maybe even a little more subdued department backdrop (I don't know--leaning on his cruiser in plain clothes or something), maybe it wouldn't be as bad.

Don't misconstrue my words as supporting disciplinary action against him. I'm encouraging a little bit of forethought and discretion into using your company's name in your viral video.

I agree with you. While I support his stance, there are (sadly) limitations on what we can often voice when we are part of an institution. For example, working in banking, I am not allowed to go on Social Media and blast the bank I work for (or really any bank for that matter), or post videos while appearing to be speaking in any official capacity. So even though what I say may be 100% true, it doesn't protect me from the company taking action against me, and "legally" they are in the clear to do so.

In that case, a reprimand is in order for doing it in uniform... but demanding he take it down is a different thing. Just my 2 cents

True.

Our organization had a nurse at the NC capitol a week or two again, in scrubs, who made the news at one of the 'open NC' marches. What saved her was she never used the organization's name. I agree, once you sport the uni and talk there is a presumption that you are talking on behalf of the organization.

Sure would be nice of the chief was backing him instead.

Seems like an opportunity for the public to start asking the Chief/Mayor questions they can't answer of the "When did you stop beating your wife?' variety. That kind of pressure is hard to beat.

I think I may know the nurse you are speaking of. The amount of faux adoration for her "heroic" actions from her friends has been outstandingly stupid.

She has been a big talking point here, especially in leadership circles. They are pretty much saying let her be unless she invokes our name, then it's a pink slip.

Was one of the articles about how demonstrators picked on her size?

Irony.
The same people upset by his video in uniform also claim that the NFL has no authority to regulate the speech of NFL players while in uniform.
These people also wouldn't be upset about a LEO shooting support of ANTIFA while in uniform.

LOL, no, that one's new to me....
Haha...thats cool. Its a nurse from Forsyth county, currently not working, drove to Raleigh for a protest. She was photographed looking all pitiful but "standing defiantly" against the evil Re-openers who were calling her names and insulting her size. They made her out to be an absolute saint for standing up for what she believed in...but totally ignored the other hundreds of people who were there standing up for what they believed in as well. But since that went against the medias bias, that wasnt mentioned. We went to high school together and she was flooded with the "how brave/so bold/such respect/much love/Im with you stuff from those who really care nothing for hearing any sides position except their own. Personally, I thought it was cool she stood up for her beliefs, but I disagreed with her position.

The nurse about whom I wrote IS one of the "evil Re-openers." Our bosses support her 1A right to do so, but they have itchy trigger fingers if she uses the Company Name during one of her tirades. Interestingly, most nurses here are split down the middle, some calling her a hero; others calling for her head on a platter.

Edited to add, I am all for 1A rights, marching, protesting, picketing, all of it. But yeah, some of those people, their positions are just out there.

Seattle is one of the biggest Socialist strongholds in the country. They have crapped on the politics of a mostly rural state.

We need more people like him!
You from up that way?

Not exactly the same. NFL making rules isn't the government limiting free speech, it's a business putting restrictions on employees.
Are you going to argue that the police are not a unit of government that they should have every right to limit people's rights as they see fit? that's a bit sticky.

There is NOTHING in that video that he said that would reflect badly upon any department or governing political entity. That is, UNLESS their intentions are tyrannical, in which case his words would scare the bejeezus out of them.

Is that a suppressor on his patrol rifle?

That's not something you see everyday. I wonder if that's department property or a personal gun? Looks like an upside down TLR light on there too.

I can't tell what is in the rack closest to him. Shotgun possibly.
