It's also what the government wants, as the police will be replaced by National Guard once the uncivilized barbarians reign free around the city, burning and looting everything. Obviously, the Leftist elite fully support their voting bloc until they come to their house, attack their businesses and financial interests. Mayor Wheeler wasn't so happy when he got assaulted eating dinner and had no problem pepper spraying the guy who meant to harm him, yet criticizing the same police who had to protect themselves and the city and got paid much less to do it. Wheeler knows the radicals of his party got him by the balls and he cannot go too far in criticizing their behaviors, although the more civilized latte drinking liberals are starting to get scared of what they have unleashed as a result of their self-destructive policies.
Anyhow, I foresee Biden eventually sending in Federal troops to patrol the city streets of Portland as the LE agencies either dwindle in size or the police literally stop being effective and just cash checks without attempting to enforce laws.. Of course, when Trump was in power it was an outcry and consider fascism. But with Communist in power, any central authoritarian rule will be considered supporting the well-being of the regime and any protests against such actions will not be accepted and may be forcefully embraced.
Another theory, assuming the city of Portland truly no longer enforces laws and there is no state or federal intervention is the rise of vigilante groups to counter their activities. The Proud Boys are rising in numbers in the PDX area and have been hosting a lot of counter demonstrations. With the lack of law enforcement in the city, I wouldn't be surprised to see Proud Boys and vigilantes taking to the streets to counter black clad fairy clan known as Antifa. The last fight that broke out in Oregon City conservative protest, one Proud Boy pummeled an entire group of Antifa fairies.
So the residents will finally say enough! and demand that city officials clean the damn place up!

It seems like most cities these days are going down the toilet and being saturated with elitist liberals. I grew up in rural part of Oregon. Although Portland in the 90s wasn't full of all Big City transplants from Cali, New York, Chicago, etc that now live there and run the politics (Governor Brown is from Minnesota), most of the state is now held hostage by the one large city. As we are seeing in Georgia with Atlanta and Virginia with NoVa, these liberal elite populate the main city of the state and then basically will enslave the rest of the people of the state to their deranged liberal/neo-Marxist ideologies.
I do feel once these barbarians start ransacking the places the latte drinking liberals live and work, as society degenerates, they may have to wake up and realize their utopian liberal fantasies are all going to implode.
