Consider this information worth what you paid for it. Just a combination of heresay and opinion at this point. The husband of our admin in our small office is high up in a large building alarm/security company. They are considered a necessary business that won't be shutdown if things get worse, and have been in meetings with government officials regarding the COVID-19 crisis.

All 50 states have declared emergencies, and 22 so far have activated the National Guard. He believes that if they can get the proper resources in place (NG troops to block roads, etc.) that we could be on national lockdown, i.e. "shelter in place" as early as Sunday evening, and it would last for 30 days. I don't even have an accurate definition of what that really means, but it doesn't sound good.

Again this is 3rd hand opinion, but might be worth at least a last once over of your supplies before the end of the weekend.

I have a friend who is in an essential role with a company that supplies hospitals. He has been issued a letter designating him as such to put in his personal vehicle so he can get to work to deliver those supplies.

So NY state and city just went on lockdown except for 'essential business and workers'. They gave a list of the types of businesses considered 'essential' mainly grocery, medical, construction, banks, a few other industries.

I'm in the essential catagory since I work for a large bank and cannot ship out equipment from my laptop at home. We SHIP to people working from home so we are working 12hr days and 8hr on Sat/Sun right at the moment.

Where do we find this list?

I heard from a few sources that they are discussing letting each state handle the their own but it was highly advised to start locking down regions or counties/boroughs/ districts, and limit traffic in and out of the areas. It is looking more and more like it could be coming. This is only hearsay. I have not read the emails. Either way be safe.

Yep...we got CISA travel and fuel letters from one of my customers. We’re in the wireless communications/broadcast/tower biz, so we’re considered “critical necessity” or something like that.

You still have to go to the grocery store. get excersize( walk the dogs) go to the doctor... they aint stopping that. Me, I dont care. I can work from home. My crew will need to get to work to manage the Critical Equipment . one of the Building's DC is .Gov owned.

I suspect they'll have to work pretty hard to contain all of NC besides the coast.

They will be having a hard time with me. I refuse to play their games. Might end up in jail, the very same place they lettin folks out of cause of this boogyman virus.

Ive seen this and the reason is simple. They have to keep the lawyers working. So they are doing bond hearings ,one of the few things they are required to do, judges are letting low level offenders out. That along with people that may be close to serving more time than they could have gotten if convicted. So it's not just a letting people go situation. In the end this could be a really good way to clean up the back log of jailed offenders. While creating a backlog of offenders on the streets.

So NYSP gonna stop and harass everyone driving through the state to get into or out of the Northeast?
It is insane to apply a lockdown to upstate NY.

Interesting. PA shut down construction sites. I heard about some residential instances on a conf call this morning. So I guess it really can vary from state to state.

Personally I don’t see how hole construction is critical.

We had a Job at Wake Med close down Monday ( kinda expected) but we also had 2 Planet Fitness close too. ( New Construction)

I do not think it's going to change anyone's life any differently. We'll still go out, we'll still visit the people we'd otherwise visit, I will still come to work.

I wonder if Amazon will still deliver...

New York’s governor ordered the state’s residents to stay indoors and most businesses to keep workers at home.
told New Yorkers to stay indoors as much as possible and ordered all nonessential businesses to keep all their workers home in a wide-ranging executive order, as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state jumped to over 7,000.

Here are the highlights of his executive order, which takes effect Sunday:

  • Healthy people under 70 years old should limit their outside activity to getting groceries and medicine, but are allowed to exercise and walk outside, as long as they stay six feet away from others.

  • Mass transit will keep operating but people should not use it unless it’s absolutely necessary. Roads will stay open.

  • Nonessential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason are banned.

  • Stronger restrictions for people 70 years of age and older, people with compromised immune systems and people with underlying illnesses include wearing masks when in the company of others not visiting households with multiple people.

  • Businesses considered nonessential must keep all of their workforce at home, which effectively means that if the business depends on a physical location, it must close.

  • Essential businesses that can remain open include: grocers and restaurants, health care providers, pharmacies, gas stations, convenience stores, banks, hardware stores, laundromats and cleaners, child-care providers, auto repair, utilities, warehouses and distributors, plumbers and other skilled contractors, animal-care providers, transportation providers, construction companies and many kinds of manufacturers.

  • Any businesses violating the order would be fined and forced to close. The state does not plan to fine individuals who violated the regulations, Mr. Cuomo said.
“These provisions will be enforced,” the governor said at a briefing in Albany. “These are not helpful hints.” They will take effect Sunday night.

Mr. Cuomo said the state would not shut down public transportation, and he did not suggest roads would be closed.

Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City has pushed for days for a “shelter in place” order and the governor has repeatedly dismissed the idea, saying he would not quarantine New Yorkers in their homes.

On Friday, Mr. Cuomo chafed at calling this new order a “shelter in place” order, saying that term evoked active shooter situations and nuclear war.

“Words matter,” he said.

I wonder about farmers, I'm sure upstate NY still has their fair share. It would be very interesting here because it's just about time to plant corn. I could just see the NG pulling over tractors. Or trying to.

I got my letter today, not sure what that may mean about a broader implementation.

Before you leave work today grab a roll of TP!
I worked at a place during the dot com boom that hired about 400 Albanian refugees. First they had a class on “feminine hygiene products”. Then they had a class on using a toilet. Yes, they went into stalls and crapped on the floor. Then they learned what TP was. We used to keep a bookshelf full of it in the Johns. They were walking out the door with their coats stuffed full of it. You’d think it was gold.

Have 2 contacts that have confirmed the shutdown. 1 with Fema, 1 with the Pentagon

Who knows at this point.

Technically, aren't they mostly "working from home" anyway?

And usually pretty isolated.

Saw something earlier its given a pass as its essential, not that it would really matter to many of the farmers I know if its go time for planting or their livestock were at risk.

Not in southeastern NC, most I know travel fairly far between fields. Some over an hour. Very few own or lease large tracts like you see out west and in northeastern NC.

Livestock farmers and other types may be closer to home.

maybe this is just what the dems are hoping and pushing for

You can bet your sweet bippy this was !
They tried 3 years to "get him" , wrecking the economy and trying to pin it on him is the Hail Mary.

This ain't his fault, never will be. He made this Country Great Again. And I'll bet he'll die trying to right this ship. He didn't give up on America and We shouldn't give up on him.
