Post-41F NFA Stamp Tracking thread

APPROVED!!! I'm so excited I could pee my pants. Just got an email from scott.

Form 4 individual
Cashed 12/6
Not sure on the exact approval date

Stick a sock in it, you.

:p

I called last week on my oldest one lady said it was in the system 1/11/18 (Scott sent it the Saturday before that) she said it was pending and the average was 8 months :(. Hope I’m lucky on some of them as Scott has 7 others for me scattered out thru the month and a half after that! Good luck to all who are waiting!

They all say that. Seems to be ~150 days is the run rate right now for Individuals.

Unless you're caught up in the background check black hole...

We have 2 poor bastards from February 2017, 1 from May 2017, 1 from June 2017 and a handful from Sept 2017 that are still peinding, waiting on back ground check.

Here is what you get if you are in the Military with pending forms and receive orders to move.

I'll admit I'm a little curious as to how much effort it takes for them to find the specific form in the stacks of boxes.

As much as 4 hrs from what Amy at the NFA branch told me.

Computers are still viewed as a passing fancy in some parts of the federal government apparently. Then again manual ineptitude keeps inept people employed there, so why change the status quo?

Of course they are, and purposefully so. The NRA spends big bucks every year to keep it that way.

In this case, I believe it's intentional because of the laws? Same reason all the 4473 data isn't electronic and searchable?

Obviously the NFRTR exists, but maybe the process is limited.

Not sure what laws would require that ATF records need to be maintained on 3x5 cards but I suppose it's possible. I had an email exchange with the woman who was in charge of the Eforms debacle and she wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Having been a part of managing large databases, I cringed at some of the comments she made.

The NFA is a relatively small database with limited, well defined fields within each record and a clearly defined index for each record. The fact that they failed to successfully implement this simple structure speaks volumes of the level of incompetence there.

Just looked at my form to see the mailed date and noticed an error. The county is not correct. It was approved but I'm wondering if it gets caught on my other pending forms...

Just kidding. Looked at my copies of my pending forms and the county on those are correct. My approved form is not right though. Guessing that would only be an issue if an atf agent asked to see my paperwork?

Shouldn't really matter. That's the mailing address. If you moved in-state, you'd never have to notify them.

The registered owner's name, SN, and stamp/signature ought to be enough.

By now, we all know it's not mine. Lol.

Hahaha yep. I have one in with Scott that was towards the end of December.

On the bright side, it could have ended up like helthcare.gov.:)
