Ran across this on another social media site. I had thought about railroad travel routes and feel they are useful in some situations. However, I had not thought about adapting a bicycle for rail use. With some modifications, this rig could be made for easy on/off and bicycle mounted when not in use.

What are some of the modes of travel you have thought about?IMG_7744.jpeg

That's a neat contraption, but just limits a person so much.
If SHTF I dont want to be tied to a railway line
And if/when you get off the rails then you have a bike that'll be very hard to ride if not impossible.

If crap really did go down...my car(s)? Motorcycle?
Or, like ME said, rotting away whereever I got capped at

Grid down movement makes u a refugee. I cant think of a quicker way to lose a pulse than becoming a refugee.
Pack movements, on a schedule, with a trained team is a serious answer. That thing in pic is cute though. I saw its grandaddy in Straussburg RR museum last weekend.

I would agree that a bicycle will be the way to get around for the average person (you got horses and know horses? You have a big step up)

But anything infrastructure related will be impassible by anything else just weeks after an issue.

Maintenance crews are daily on the rails fixing issues. Highways and byways are the same.

Hell, around here the kudzu will smother the roads within a week of no traffic and no crews to keep it back. Not to mention the tree falls, general plant growth or land movement.

The footpaths/wildlife trails of not to very long ago will return to the forefront with a quickness when SHTF...

I have family that have gotten DUIs on those.
wait, so you're saying i should not be drinking a beer, riding my mower around the yard, and shooting a hi point?
why did i even move to the south?

My post-apocalyptic travel will be “dirt napping”.

Why do people assume THEY’RE going to be the ones leftover when there is an apocalypse? :D

My first priorities are going to be:

1) Don’t assume anything
2) Don’t underestimate anyone

Figure if you do the opposite of either, some fool’s gonna pop out of the shadows, smoke your ass with a Raven .25 Auto, take your PC, your rifle and the stash of Nabs in your ruck.

I work 3rd, in the case of an emp attack all 5 of the 7 or 8 guys on 3rd will be stealing the company forklift and extra propane bottles. That should get us back to our county. Lol 🤣🤣🤣

Me too, in my uncles case, the LEO walking next to him pulled his pistol and threatened to shoot out the tires if he did not pull over.

My partially but legally blind uncle was driving the mower through town after celebrating (at the bar) his first child being born.

My dad who was walking on the other side of the mower reached over and turned the key cutting off the mower. To this day that is the only run in my uncle has had with the law.

Edenton Barney Fife does not play around, lol.
