My old boy eats this:

I blend his kibble with good chicken broth, fresh peas, and carrots to soften it up a bit for him (see below). And he gets soft boiled eggs on the weekend.

He is dying of jaw/mouth cancer, so he also gets a few other meds and supplements with his food every day. He's still happy, which makes me happy, and he eats like a damned king. When it's time to say goodbye here before long, I'll switch his food over to bacon cheeseburgers.

I "liked" your post, but just to be clear it was the fact that you are doing the very best you can to make his remaining time the best it can be. As for the prognosis I am very sorry that you and he have to go through this, I have been there and it is a hard journey. Prayers.

@Axehandle, I appreciate that, Sir :) I wouldn't think otherwise at all.

And thank you for the prayers. This has been tougher emotionally than actually losing some of my human relatives. It brings me some happiness though, knowing that he doesn't know he's sick. He's just a dumb, goofy, loyal, perennially butt-wagging pup. Hopefully that continues right up to the end.

But back on topic ... the kibble is really good! It gets high praise from https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/.

I started my two Brittany's on Gentle Giant last fall.
They like it and tolerate it well.
I been buying all pet food from Chewy for a while now.
They put it on my porch for no more and sometimes less that Wally World's price.

I wouldn't keep a dog if I HAD to feed it.............is what my 17 year old (15 hunting dogs running around) self would have said. Now I just feed the mutt Diamond Brand. It can't be any more unhealthy than half the crap I eat, and I don't want him to outlive me.
