Post Your Furry Friends...

New addition...it was time.

May 8th of this year, we lost our Lab, Sampson, after having the privilege of being his family for 14 years...still miss that dog and will never completely get over the loss.

I have been talking to the wife and kids about adding to the family. Everybody was in agreement that “it’s time”.

Here he is...

“Holden”

We had talked about taking in a rescue and personally, if I had an unlimited amount of money and land-o-plenty, the shelter would always be empty.

Holden is not a rescue/shelter dog, but his birthday “sealed the deal” for me....May 8; the same day we lost Sampson. It’s said that dogs have a way of finding the people who need them...I’ve no doubts he found the right family.

It’s awesome having another 4-legged member back in our family...it does my heart and my mind good. This little fellow’s going to be a good one.:)

So, in that second pic of Holden, he has intelligent eyes and the ears, are perked with curiousity. Gonna have yourself a good un.
He's a handsome devil, too.

So sweet! Enjoy all those puppy moments.

It took me five years to get to the point I could get another pup after losing two close together at 15 and 17. I won't wait that long after Grace is gone; too many good pups need a good caring home. Selfish of me to do otherwise.

That's why we have 2x 13 yo dogs (litter mates) that we've had since 12 weeks old, one 11 yo that we got as a "retired" breeder at 1 1/2 yo & the 3 yo "puppy" we got at 7 weeks.

The furry brothers are so bonded, one would be devastated if something happened to the other.

So we got the girl dog as a buffer of sorts, so they'd still have a buddy, as Dachshunds are very pack oriented dogs.

As time went by, we realized they were on the back side of their life expectancies & there was a chance they might all go close together. Got the the goofball puppy from a rescue, to maybe ease the transition as the older ones pass.

We love our little clowns beyond all reason & they're like kids to us, specifically feral 3 year olds. :D

The upside is that wiener dogs have a very long lifespan. Downside is that you get incredibly attached to them. I will be devastated when my girl dog goes. She's a devoted daddy's girl & I've never had a bond with a dog like this before. Helped keep me sane through some dark patches.

The "puppy" still thinks he can crawl through the sleeves of the missus' house coat. He does silly crap like this all the time to get our attention, 'cos we'll laugh & encourage him. Very smart & responds as well to praise as he does treats. He's just funny & happy all the time.

Here she is once again, demonstrating her most useful skill: holding down a fresh load of clean clothes warm from the dryer, to make sure they don’t run off or something

When this clown was little, he'd dive into the basket fulla laundry fresh from the dryer & not come out till he had the dryer sheet.

Most devoted, loyal little dog I've ever met-
my girl.jpg

One of my favorite pics of the 2 of them together when Roscoe was almost a year old. Just for reference sake, she's a solid 17lbs of muscle & teeth & he's now a solid 23lbs of muscle & feet.

standard poodle? awesome dog you have there! Hilarious that she stands up!
Yes, Standard Poodle and she just goes out and walks around till she can get someone to start splashing her. Impossible to do anything with a hose around her, she is water crazy.

Rambo, my son's dog, on the ride home from VA. We went up to have my brother perform needed surgery on his knee.
Thought it was ACL, but it turned out that his patella was dislocated. Brother said it was likely from birth.
Rambo is still pretty doped up here.

Side note, even for non family his surgery rates can save over $1000 compared to most veterinary surgeons.
So if your pack mate every needs surgery and you don't mind going up to Newport News VA, PM for info.
He's done over 3000 ACL repairs, countless spinal repairs. He's even done full hip replacements.

Old man Roscoe.
He is learning to be the only dog now. He still looks for little Patches everyday.
He has been demanding more cuddles and belly scratches.
Sweetest gentle giant there is.
